What are the major differences? I've always done RP but I've been seeing a lot of people at my gym swear by 5x5. Thoughts? What do you do and why?

There is a difference of opinion. Some say that heavier sets first will more effectively work the fast twitch fibres, higher reps sets after will work the slower ones.
Others say that choosing an average rep range will work all fibres just as effectively. Me, I like the former argument: tension followed by fatigue - so RPT.

on a 5x5 set you do 5reps for 5 sets heavy as you can go, basically maxing out. and when i do pyramids i normally go 10,8,6,4, then i go as heavy as i can for 2 reps normally end up with like 1 1/2 though lol. either way there both great, normally i do pyramids on my upper body though and 5x5 on legs. i wanna be able to squat a house lol
