Ditched my lifting straps yesterday for deadlifts, and still pulled pretty close to my current max using an over/under grip and chalk only.
(got 525 and my most recent max with straps is 545)
So I think I am goind to ditch them permanently.
For every set I was over on left hand and under on right hand. Just felt natural that way.
Is it necessary to switch it up?
Sorry if it's a retarded question.

I have a preferred grip too - Left under, right over.
If I change it round it feels unnatural.
Some people will say you need to switch it up to keep things balanced from a muscular point of view, though I'm of the opinion that it doesn't matter that much as I only use this grip when I am maxing out and I would rather be most comfortable for those max lifts.

Good job on ditching the straps. I've recently decided to do away with them completely for chalk. My grip has improved so much, so fast.
With deads, you should actually try going double overhand until your last set or last two sets. Switching the grip from time to time will of course bring a better muscular balance, but I don't know of many bodybuilders who bother (though, that's not to say that makes it okay).
Those are some pretty heavy deads, though; keep it up.

so the one other thing i can think of is incremented risk of torn bicep.. be one hand always supinated it will have more strain on that bicep. alternating grips, u will be able to share the load.
on the other hand, this is mainly form isue; by using straight arm u shouldnt have to worry about this. then if one variant is more natural to u, u might even benefit from sticking to it since the other variant will have u use worse form and put ur self at risk for the injury. good luck and hope u find the way out of ur anger cage soon.
