    Gaining muscle while cutting

    Here's something that's interested me. I've been gaining strength whilst cutting (lost about 12lbs in 7 weeks so far), slower than whilst bulking but still noticeably. If I am gaining muscle in correlation to this strength increase, will there be a point where the balance in fat loss/muscle gain will change and I'll start gaining weight whilst still losing bodyfat? I guess if this happens the rate will be extremely slow but I'm curious as I don't mind this diet too much.
    Aim for 2011: 195lbs or heavier at ~12% by September.

    How much stronger have you gotten? In which exercises, and how much? I often see that people claim they are getting stronger at dips and chins, but losing strength in other exercises. I hope you're not one of the people who doesn't understand why.

    What kind of diet are you on?

    It's because there about 3 new threads on this topic every day. Strength gains on a cut are not uncommon. Frank muscle gains on a cut are possible.

    Ah thanks that helps a lot. So if I stayed on a cutting diet constantly would there be a point where I will start losing strength because of a lack of calories?

    That never happened to me, but if you cut on way too little for too long, I'm sure strength and muscle loss would be inevitable.
