I always hear that white rice is not good when you are trying to lose those extra flabs. About a year ago I quit eating white rice and substituted it for brown rice. From what I've heard, brown rice is similar to white rice and its the brown coating that contains fiber which is good for digestion (is this true?).
What I'm thinking right now is that eating white or brown rice has the same effect. Is it advisable to eat brown rice instead of white rice? What are the reasons?
Im cutting down on carbs so that I can lose my lower ab/belly fat. I eat a total of 2 big cups of brown rice in a day and thats split into 2 meals. Will eating 1 cup of brown rice be better when it comes to losing the belly fat? By the way, I already know what losing fat in just one body part is not possible because losing overall fat is whats needed.
I just need to know more about brown rice and if reducing the intake is better for lowering body fat percentage. Thanks!

This is true. But dont be fooled, brown rice is better. The fiber plays a role in delaying digestion and keeping you satisfied longer. you also lose magnesium which can aide you in the battle against hunger. Magnesium has been shown to have a strong affect in the battle for weight loss. You also lose essential fatty acids that come from the oils in the husk. IMO whenever you have the chance to take in good fat you might as well, because I once read that the good fat in your system will help you cut down on your inkling to eat the not so better ones (sat, trans).
The reason people say its no big deal is because they read it some where, and this conversation has spread like wildfire across these boards. Well the truth is whether they are right or not the benefits of brown rice out weigh the losses in my opinion.
In my opinion your better off sticking with brown rice and finding something to put on it that makes it taste better, if that is your gripe. Processed crap is exactly that, processed crap. And you should try and forget about as much of it as you can.

Why would you encourage people to eat processed garbage. Giving up processed crap only aides in making real lifestyl choices. Do you think he should eat white bread over whole wheat? Or bleached enriched white pasta over over whole wheat. Its basically the same thing. Why you feeding him broscience. Moron. This rumor about white and brown is a total lie and all broscience and started on this board and only extends through this board. Its not hard to believe that a more natural food is better for you reguardless of whether it is a drastic difference, it is still a difference. Im pretty sure theirs nothing natural about it and unnatural food is what is propelling america as the fattest country. Humans were not designed to eat anything except what was already on this planet in its natural form, they didnt have the ability to remove rice husks for thousands of little pieces of rice a hundred years ago.

Do you even know what white rice is? Once they remove the husk they add vitamins back too it. But they dont put everything back including magnesium and fiber. The ingnorance on this site never ceases to amaze me. Drastic difference or no difference their is a difference that was all I was saying. And then you always get some skank chiming in telling the op about cal in vs cal out. Guess what he probably knows that already and just wants to know about rice.
