Title is a little goofy but thats basically whats happening. I've gotten way leaner, pants are a lot looser, love handles have gone down substantially, but the fat that is left, especially around my lower stomach, lower back, and love handles is a lot softer, jiggly and kinda "loose" I guess, its not skin, that I know. Anyone else have this happen to them?

Getting leaner, but fat is more jiggly?

I am experiencing this right now as well. Lower stomach and man boobs are much 'jigglier' than before. I have no scientific data, but the general consensus is that 'jiggly fat' is getting ready to go. I have read it has to do with water and/or that the fat cells are gone but there is more space that has not been dealt with by your body.
Almost universally it is said to be a 'good' thing, as long as you continue along.
Good luck,

It's the jiggle effect! It's normal. Water fills up empty cells as fat is emptied. This causes that effect. I can't recall where but it is explained fairly well. Google jiggle effect or something like that. After time, water is expelled and area looks much tighter.
And yes it sucks. Seems once you hit about 12 to 13%, it is almost demotivating.
Edit: Link above explains it.I Rep back always. Put it in comment.

wow, I was just going to post a thread about this, to tell you the truth it really pisses me off! I mean I know I'm getting leaner cuz after 2 months again I have to buy smaller pants and smaller shirts again, but the really jiggly mess is in my lower stomach right under my belly button, i really hate it and it feels uncomfortable as hell. I would think it's a bad thing, but maybe there are some ab workouts that can help tighten that area? Any ideas out there?

Thanks brah, appreciate it.
Yeah man it does suck, up until last week i felt pretty tight and then this week everything is just soft lulz. Im guessing Im somewhere between 13-15% right now and I think if I can hang with my diet for another 6-7 weeks I should be happy.
Abs exercises help to an extent im sure, but it seems like its almost unavoidable so just try ignore it till you get past it. I know what you mean about right below the belly button though brah, I look pretty good when im standing up, but when I sit down or bend down to get something it looks squishy and horrible lulz"Every experience is a paradox in that it means to be absolute, and yet is relative; in that it somehow always goes beyond itself and yet never escapes itself."

I agree with everyone that the jiggly fat is better, and after losing 85 lbs im starting to notice that too. I've read somewhere on this site just about a week ago that harder fat is called visceral fat and is worse (it is deeper and in organs and such) and shows less signs of progress. Jiggly fat is called subcutaneous because it is just under the skin, making it "healthier" in a way, and shows signs of progress sorta if that makes sense.

It's also not something that should be done all that often. It should only be done when weight loss has stalled for a week or more and you are certain you have been in a deficit during that time. As for the calories, a glass of red wine or 2 shots of vodka will barely add 100 calories to your diet. That won't make a huge dent in any deficit you already have going.

happening to me too
I've got to ask my trainer about this, but lately I've noticed that I can actually grab my fat and it pull directly away from the body leaving the leaner me underneath quite obvious. How the hell does that happen, and how do I get rid of the loose fat? I've lost 30 pounds on the scale in the last year, 10% body fat, dropped over two to three sizes, feel muscles and bones where there weren't before. I know I'm on the right track, but will the jiggly be gone too?
