Deadlift (conventional, no belt)
405x5
475x8 - PR
It was grinding on me that my squat was outpacing my conventional deadlift, now I feel a little better knowing that I can at least deadlift what I can squat lol.
Had some weird pop in my lower ribs on the very first rep but it didn't seem to bother me at the time. Got out of my car (after a whopping 2 minute drive home) and it hurt like a mofo. Skipping the kettlebell work for now, either will do it later today if it feels alright or tomorrow. Either way I got to get my computer set up for the big meet going on at Supertraining Gym.
One was tall but not lanky. I dunno.

Ha thanks man. I was cranking the song "Meaning of Life" by Disturbed during the heavy set today. Forgot how f*cking awesome that whole album is.
Thanks.
That's a little way off still lol.
I ate a ton since Thursday and did a lot of recovery stuff so it seemed to be pretty quick. Still beat up though. I'm taking it easy until next Thursday now, gonna try to hit some belted 3RMs that day.

Sunday, November 4th, 9:00am
KB Clean & Jerks
70s x 5 sets of 10
Was about to shower and get ready for bed, but I looked at myself in the mirror and realized my shoulders were starting to lose some size because I have been lazy with my kettlebell work lately.
Tossed on some smelly clothes and started to see what I could do with the 35 since my rib is still sore from yesterday. Seemed to be fine so I cranked out a regular workout. It did however pop last night at work and felt better after that, which makes me think it was slightly dislocated. Still tender, but movement is fine (hurts when I twist) and it isn't bruised.
Shoulders could be a little tired tomorrow, but it's going to be an easier day so I'm not really worried.

Yep, already accepted my position on the team and starting to save up for the trip. Might do the WI state meet as a primer meet. Been dealing with a strained pec so I'd probably take a token bench but squat and deadlift training have been coming along great.
FYI, food also helps with filling out weight classes. There is no such thing as 'strong enough'

Dunno if tylutki has or not but when I talked to him at nationals he said he planned on going. I know he signed up for the Arnold too so I doubt he'd be doing state.
Ya, the pec is getting better. I incline benched 325 the other day with no pain. The 655 felt perty easy. Think I'm gonna go for 7 plates again in a few weeks. There is no such thing as 'strong enough'

Well technically Trettin is a WI guy, but they are crazy too.
We would be completely stacked in the 205-231-264-HWT classes for USAPL Raw Nationals if we could get a team together, but as far as current competitors we lack lighter guys that can post good totals at this point.
Yeah I think he hit 2000 at the most recent UPA meet in Iowa. Strong as hell.

Monday, November 5th, 8:00am
Squats (no belt, ATG BABY)
405x5x5
A. Bench Press
275x5x8
B. Chins
40x5x8
Ghetto GHRs
5x5
Super Sit-ups
BWT x20
*rest-pause, farted mid set
Ring Dips/Close-grip Chins
BWT x10x3
*focused on ROM
ATG squatting is for *******s. Thought I would start burying them on my lighter days, but it just completely threw my groove off. Reps weren't hard, but they were weird.
Benching went alright, focused on keeping the bar over my sternum and tucking my elbows more, as well as pushing towards my feet to shorten the ROM. Really trying to bench like Ryan Celli, which will take a LOT of work. His form is just so good. None of the reps were hard here either, but my triceps were more brutalized than normal which was probably from the elbow tucking.
My intention every single rep was to explode as fast as f*cking possible out of the hole or off the chest. This makes things MUCH harder, but beneficial. Never thought I'd be so drained by sets of 5 with about 70%.
Motherofgod.......I'd like to try a deadlift suit sometime. Seems like the sumo guys get crazy carryover.
That dude ain't got sh*t on Ian Bell though. USA! USA!

I know what you mean about those ATG squats. I know I go low enough anyways, but last week during some lighter sets I decided to really bury some squats just for the heck of it and the groove just gets all screwed up.
I've been following this log for a while and I'm a big fan of the way you've been training lately. Things seem to be coming together nicely.405/290/500 at 170

Thanks Jugs.
Thanks man.
It is chaotic. Usually I have a general idea of what I want to do for the week then go from there. It also depends what I am trying to accomplish at the time. It's usually either moderate/moderate or light/heavy. Sometimes I might take it easy and go light/moderate or maybe I'll just f*cking bury myself and do heavy/heavy. Rarely do I take a full light week.
No matter what I like to keep the volume fairly high even on heavier days because my body loves volume. Tacking on a couple lighter sets of 5 at the end of any workout seems to help a lot. Sometimes I'll skip stuff in favor of more assistance work though. I can only handle so much!
