In the past five months the number child insurgents has increased almost fivefold in the town of Sangin, to a band of 40, who are used to run weapons, plant bombs and carry out tasks for the Taliban, The Daily Telegraph has learnt.

According to military intelligence sources there are about 12 children being routinely used in the Sangin area just to plant bombs.

The Taliban have resorted to the tactic because they know that British troops are unlikely to fire on children planting IEDs (improvised explosive devices). They have also been forced into the change because sophisticated surveillance technology is able to pick up Taliban IED planting teams and take action against them.

The only solution to the taliban is to round them up and put a bullet in the back of each and every one of their turbans. Im not one to condone killing kids but I have best friends fighting in Afghanistan and if it comes down to them having to off these kids or die then so be it. I'm muslim..and i hate the Taliban, at first i thought they were defending themselves..but after time they took it out of control, they are killing their own people for the wrong eason. The mujahideen are not the same these days. Taliban are far more gorilla and have a lot less honor and it distorts the mujahideen glory signifcantly.

Cool. Yeah when Russia invaded Afghanistan in the early 80's, we fled Kabul on horse back in the middle of the night during the war to go to Pakistan. We lived there for about a year before we came to America. I actually knew how to speak hurdu (sp) but have forgotten. Even my farsi is getting sloppy.

Fail. If you are going to be killing kids then you might as well pack up and declare defeat. This is ultimately a war for the approval of the Afghan populace, and its foolish to expect that you can kill children and still maintain any semblance of credibility.

Moreover, I don't see how any soldier or Marine would be able to live with themselves after performing such an act. They would almost certainly become madmen.
