Just because you are 87 y/o, lift in a fed that gives you 3 whites when you crack your knees, and you lifted 1 more lb then some other old viagra taking geezer did @ the last weeks meet doesn't mean you are a REAL record holder!!! It's like saying I am the strikeout record holder in the 5-7 y/o Tunica Mississipi T-ball league.

well technically it does mean you broke a record
when you hit a new PR you broke a record
some records, however, do mean more than others which i imagine is what you're getting at
but to say they didnt break a record is incorrect

Yes I am. This week I have recieved 3 certificates for World, National, and State records. I I did not ask for these and did not deserve them. My state record was in the bench and it was 20lbs less then my PR and 32lbs less then the weight class below me. My world record was for a deadlift that was not even 3X BW. Even more ironic it is in one of the feds I mentioned as legit. I was in disbelief. I decided to search and their are 1,068 I could set if I so desired.Originally Posted by cupcakekid

Wow the bench record for 242lbs, 22 y/o fat balding males is 315 and the total is 992. to some extent i got to agree with op, but at the same time i wont sit around bitching about it. yea i have some world records in some not so prestigious feds but my own personal solution to the problem is to not lift in those feds anymore. lift in the feds where there are real competitors and real records to be broken. thats what I do anyways.Last edited by matt23; 05-22-2010 at 03:16 PM.

i actually agree with OP. when you set a national or world record it is supposed to signify that you are the BEST in the nation/world. if every fed holds nationals, and every fed has a national record holder in a particular weight class, then how can you really say that you are the best?
