    Is this a bad idea?

Aside from obviously getting sick of the taste, would it be a bad idea to try to get 70 - 80% of your overall carbs from oats + brown rice?

    Keeps things simple + cheap.

variety is always good. too much of even a good thing can be mad. do not neglect other carb sources with different nutrients, and you dont want to get burned out on them.

i don't see any problem. rice and oats go well with a lot of different things.

do you notice a difference on training days if you have starchy carbs?

They both taste very bland and neither of them are very nutritious. Fruits + vegetables > grains

Why in the world would you want to do that to yourself? Don't say money, carbs are cheap, there are many options out there that actually taste good and/or have good micronutrition.
