For those that want to race time, perma bulk, get as big as you can in the least amount of time as you can - I don't understand the hurry. I'd much rather keep my low BF and slowly (but steadily) gain. It's much healthier (than bulking and cutting) and much more visibly appealing.
To me, I feel like time should be on your side. Since I'm 24, my muscles have yet to reach their full maturity and potential. In fact, I still have a good 8-9 years until they do. I push myself hard every day in the gym, but again, I am in no rush. I constantly challenge myself everyday in the gym, but, again, I'm in no rush. At the rate I'm going, about 5lbs of lean muscle mass a year, in a perfect world, I will be around 215 (natural) at 6-8% BF, and competition-ready all year 'round. That, to me, is worth the wait. Even if I don't hit that 215 mark, 185 with my current body would be amazing in itself.
I would love to be able to lift weights for the rest of my life, and trying to be injury free as much as I can. I think my best bet to achieve this would be to be slow and steady about my gains, along with correct technique (obviously). I enjoy keeping my diet clean. I like looking lean all year 'round while still gaining strength and weight. It may take me longer than some of you with your extreme bulking sessions, but I prefer to keep my BF low 365 days a year, especially since I can still move around very respectable weight.
Just some food for thought. Yes, this is coming from an ectomorph.
In before 5'10 170. No, not mad.

yawn... we get it dog, your ripped. nice work.
But honestly, having "overbulked" and basically been a fat piece of **** all through college I hear ya, I'm trying to get lean myself and then I'd like to remain relatively lean. That said I'm no longer the 160 lb shrimp I was in high school... my attitude has changed. I wouldn't want to get much below 190-200 lbs or so though.FLORIDA GATORS CREW

you can still do cut and bulk cycles and maintain low bf. i used to try to maintain as low bf as possible and slowly gain muscle. i personally have found it more effective if i bulk up until i start to lose the lower abs and then cut down to where ab veins are visible. just my two cents.

Nice to see someone got the same mind as me. Could'nt agree more to be honest! As a former cutter and bulker, it drove me crazy how many times I would just keep going to one to the other. Stick to a one way street and I believe you reach your full potential.
I seem to receive alot of P.M's on nutrition advice, training & among other general subjects, please give me time to reply, I don't mind answering your questions, thanks! Ladies and Gents.

lulz, thanks.
think about it, it's still 3 years away. if you eat clean, lift big and sleep enough, you'll still get some solid growth!
work it.
what do you mean you get lazy? lazy towards what?
see, i was 130-140 in high school. i'm 170 now, and content because I know if I keep up the hard work I'll continue to put on size and weight while remaining lean.
start lifting weights too, brah.
lulz
i hear you, but it does add more stress on the body when you shift between bulking and cutting.
i can see the psychology part of it. however, it can be the same way those that want good muscle separation.
are you sticking with it now? how is it going compared to the cutting/bulking cycles?
people can ultimately look bigger in many cases when they have a lower BF
you can get lean, just takes time. time is what you have. just be dedicated.lilliiilliiliilliililliil

LOL at you thinking your body will keep on growing at your current rate and you will be 215 pounds at 8% body fat. Unless you have one of the worlds top genetics or you're not doing it natural, don't expect to be that heavy at your height being that lean. Also you could gain 10-15 pounds a year and still stay at the same body fat %, just saying.

nope. i pretty much have it made when it comes to all of that.
i have a mini-fridge in my office and availability to cooking appliances where I work, and I can eat while at work whenever I want.
I sleep 9-10 hours a night.
lift for 60-90 minutes.
i have plenty of time for other things if I schedule correctly.lilliiilliiliilliililliil

i don't understand the fluctuation either.
typical day is like this...
4 slices of turkey bacon for breakfast, apples, salads (lettuce, spinach, no dressing), oranges as snacks, 2 protein shakes throughout the day, 4oz lean ground beef for lunch, chicken breast for dinner, and almonds for a snack when i get hungry. occasionally a low fat string cheese.
