His career average is .278, not to mention a career .378 OBP which is more important than batting average anyway. He still has to play 81 games on the road where his stats are literally just as good as they are at home but nice try. He's not known for being a good defender, and I doubt anyone has ever claimed otherwise, and the guy has the best home run swing in baseball.
