How many of you go on date nights?
We've done it in the past, but not regularly. We haven't gone out lately, 'cuz we're trying to save for a vacation in June. It's nice going out and all, but "we" usually end up talking about the kids. We don't talk like we're on a real date. So, it's nice, but it could be better (I think...I hope!). I'm sure we'd talk about the kids less if we did it more often.
How about you guys? Do you find it to be a good thing to do or is it just a waste of time? Do you do anything other than going out to dinner?

My wife and I go out on dates all the time, we go to different places, but most end up with a dinner in between. We go to the movies, comedy clubs, Broadway shows, sometimes just for a walk and talk.
One time my wife and I took a walk up to Pelham Pkway. When we returned my youngest son said where di you guys go? I said we went for a walk, he said a walk for what? I said just to walk and talk, he said, what could you guys possibly talk about you been together for 27 years! I think going out on dates is really good. Oh and we never talk about the kids.On the list for Bannukah

The last time I took my wife out, it was to a very nice restaurant. Out in the middle of nowhere, but great prices.
Unfortunately, she found her way back home ."If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

That is awesome. We just started a babysitting coop with three other families. 11 kids total and it gives us three out of four Saturdays free. WE have loved it though have not been as good at not talking about the kids. As time goes by we will need to work on this. The bummer is that we just had the kids so have this weekend off, but I will be in Chicago and my wife is going to be here. The real bummer is that it is our 16 th anniversary friday. The first we will have been apart. Sucks.
Take care John.Do it or Don't do it, There is no try

I really enjoy date night! Unfortunately, due to our insane schedules (health care) and our teenage son, they're too few and far between. But when it does happen, we walk over to small martini bar nearby, and "catch up" with each other. Feels Great!!

now wait a minute, my friend.
first of all, are you slamming taco bell???! because i want to go on the record that taco bell is a fine dining establishment with some excellent and tasty eating pleasures. (and i own some of their stock as well.. which might not be worth much these days, but in 5 or 10 years maybe things will bounce back?) anyway.
with little kiddos, we never get the chance to casually stroll through stores - peacefully. we weren't grocery shopping for crying out loud! we were reading the labels on items that we don't see in our normal grocery stores! checking out new items. good grief, dude.
In addition to our fun time in WF and TJ, we also hit a couple nice running stores in metro detroit. are you going to talk down to me about that as well? well??? we took our time checking out new running shoes and gear. i KNOW that you wouldn't value that at all, would you mr. runner guy???
And we did all of this without the little kiddos going crazy, throwing things, pulling fire alarms, smearing food into everything in sight, etc. shall i go on!???
geez.... I never thought I'd have to neg you!
despite your off based comments, i will forgive you, "friend".

We usually have 'date' weekends.
If it's nice out, during the winter we go for a long walk, mocha's, dinner, movies or rent a movie
Summers are great 'cause we pack a picnic lunch in the cooler, and make a beeline to the beach, lounge around for most of the day (we kind of go to a secluded spot)
at dinner time we hit a restaurant on the beach, have a beer, nice meal.... watch the sun go down
reminds me, I cannot wait for summer
Now that the 'stang is almost ready for paint, we'll probably add summer car cruising to the wineries and s#!t like that :-)
hurry up summer
