I know there are lots of these types of threads out there.. but before anyone gets all nasty with me...
-I have been working out for 9 weeks now... 3 times a week weights and cardio most every day... (actually following the 12 week transformation videos on the site here)
-I have completely changed my diet to proper .. clean eating... with the 1 a week 'cheat' within reason day...
-I am currently taking a multi vitamin.. and protien powders.
I have lost 14 lbs in 9 weeks and went from 29% body fat to 24%.. YAY ME
I am looking to add in a Fat Burner for some extra pep, energy, and a little bit more fat loss (hopefully in these key problem areas like tummy, triceps and upper thigh) ...
I have seen Hydrocut for women.. and animal cuts mentioned.... I am well aware there are no "quick fat loss" pills but am interested in getting some extra energy and metabolism increase help from some of these pills and would appreciate any advice from women who have used them.

Fair enough...
then why is it being pushed here?
http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/12_w...iner_day12.htm
This is the routine im following and i have had some good results... ? is this a male thing? Or a Push to sell more product from the site? lol
Why if everything else Kris says is working should i not look into fat burning supplements?
I realize there is no target fat reduction... but have read quite a bit on the site about how fat burners help increase fat loss and "getting the most out of your work outs".. yet it seems many women on here are very against them?
Appreciate the comments....~ Always remember your unique.. just like everyone else~

Seriously, don't do it.
You probably will experience short lived success with any fat burner you take. But it is only a matter of time before every bit of weight you thought you lost, creeps back on. And it is always back with a vengance the second time around. No one is an exception to this rule. You will be twice as miserable the second time around, too. And the pills won't work as well the second time around either.
And by the way--do you really want to waste your money?
But most importantly, it can ROYALY mess with your adrenal and hormonal functions. Please trust me on this one. One woman I know is even losing her hair, and lactating (she isn't pregnant) because her fat burner use burned out her systems. She is a more extreme case, but you need to know that it does happen to people.
If you need extra energy then you need to find it from natural sources. Eat only the best produce, oils from nuts and seeds, and high quality meat and dairy products. Look into alkaline eating for your body. Google it. You will find that often times people hold onto fat because their bodies are in an acidic state. This may sound foreign to you, but it happens whether you have heard about it or not.
I would be happy to discuss in greater detail if you would like to PM me.
I know I offer an extreme perspective, but that's all it is--a perspective. No excuses, just do it and do it TODAY!!
Anything worth having takes time and effort.

There is a reason this site is here. You can waste all kinds of money switching from fat burner to fat burner as they quit working/trying to find something that works or makes you feel like you did when you first started using a fat burner.
You'll notice that fat burners say you have to be on a diet and exercise program for them to work...what does that tell you about their effectiveness? Now, consider that the longer you're on stimulants, the more your body acclimates to them and the less effective they become. Do you want that to happen when you have 20-30 lbs to go or when you have 5-10 left and your body is doing all it can not to lose the last of it's precious fat (you may not like the way fat looks, but your body sure likes fat's function)?
1 lb a week is considered great progress to ensure that you aren't losing muscle. You don't want to (regularly) lose more than 2 lbs a week. If you're doing that without additional product, there is absolutely no need to add anything else in (for the purpose of fat loss). When you do stall out, adjust your diet and cardio as much as you can without adding fat burners. You'll simply get the most bang for your buck that way.
And do take what Bugga said to heart. I know more than one person who has at least gotten sick by overusing stimulants or not taking breaks from using them.

Thanks
GeekyGurl,
Thanks for starting this thread. I've had flirtations with fat burners - when I first joined the gym I'm at, the manager recommended some. I liked the "high" but they had no long-lasting effects and I wasn't good at monitoring my own appetite - I relied on caffeine and appetite suppressants. I'm glad the ladies here said what they said. It confirms my suspicions.

Ok, majority of this I totally agree on. And I'm not a super model or in any where near competition state, but I really don't agree with the fact that fat burners can cause a woman to lactate! And if the fat burner messed her all up and played with her adrenals, then she wouldn't have as much of those hormones produced by her own body going through her. Adding more then the body needs and stressing it, causes your body's own to stop producing as much because it's already getting it from other sources. And as for the lactating, her fat burner would of had to had a form of fenugreek in it, as some do that are specialised for women. There's no "fat burner" out there that's going to just make her spontaniously start leaking and skyrocketing her prolactin levels..that's just a bit much, but taking to much fenugreek will cause women to lactate, some actually take it to help increase breast size, which is does, but it helps to prepare your breasts to lactate.
Why do I write all this..because I have had all these things happen to me but not from a fat burner. I have pituitary problems, which effects the rest of my hormones, estrogen, testosterone, progesterone and both thyroid and adrenal problems. When the adrenals were first messed up, it was because my pituitary originally pumped way to much of that hormone to my adrenals, there for wearing them out..I've been told this and explained to by an endo doc, so I'm not just talking out my ass. He said it's the same thing when people play to much with certain stimulants..same effect happens, they wear out and lead to extreme fatigue , worse case they wear out and you need to take this hormone in replacement in order to function.
Secondly about the lactating. Getting your prolactin high enough to lactate takes either conceiving a child or a whole lotta stimulants for lactating. Why do I know this..ah again, with my hormone problems I had to take both herbal and prescription meds in order to nurse my child. Along the way learning about breast feeding and how a woman's body produces milk, even some men while taking certain prescription pills have reported leaking, again it's taking to much of a stimulant to cause lactation..that pill in particular being domperidone..google it, you'll see what I mean.
Although I agree with not abusing or using fat burners, I wouldn't use scare tactics for others to read and worry about what they may use or want to use. I totally believe that's every individuals choice. I'm not writing this to start an argument, maybe that friend of your's did have some fluke hormonal thing, but again it would take a massive amount of pills to do that.
Most of the ladies on here offer great advice and help, which is wonderful. They're there to help lead you in the right direction, and obviously by all there stats they know what they're talking about. Diet and exercise obviously come first and they'd be the best to point you in that right direction. I would listen to them and use all the great info they help you with. Then if all else fails, and more time has passed, start asking questions about fat burners..again it's just my opinion. Best of luck though and congrats on your great loss so far...that's awesome!

If you need some extra energy look to sources such as green tea 3x a day it will boost your metabolism and supply some caffeine. Coffee is good too but limit what you put into it (like 1 packet of splenda, no half/half) and maybe just once a day when you need it most. There are also good herbal substitutes for energy such as siberian ginseng. Other than natural ways to feel more energized I would not do a fat burner until you have hit a reeaalllyyy rough plateau point in your weight loss. Also do research on foods that will help you speed up your metabolism such as red bell peppers. There are a lot of great tips and tricks to learn about Good luck and great progress!
