I have cheat day coming up on Sunday, what are the guidelines? I just want it to shock my metabolism and not undo all my hard work
I was thinking about 'all you can eat pancakes' and 2 krispy kreme donuts. or is this too much?

I agree just keep it to a meal, I feel if I go overboard for the whole day I tend to be very moody the following day, almost to the point where I'm mad at myself. My cheat meal is very simple I usually just stick to a hearty cut of steak some mushrooms and rice, maybe some sushi earlier in the day- just have something you really like that you usually give up during the week so you don't go insane, no need to go nuts with it!
Good luck!John

Whats a cheat day??
O right. Were on BB.comI do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do this I keep on doing. (Romans 7:15,17-19)

Try to keep your cheat meals to a diet like status... similar to your diet... carbs come up but are still good carbs... basically bringing your body up to or just above maintenance calories to revamp your system... going overboard won't hurt you all that bad, you'll prob pull on a little water which can mess with you in the head... hence why i usually keep it clean

This is a tough one.
Generally, you don't want to go all out. Eat what you think is about right, just don't go over once you think you've realistically had enough.
If you begin your "special meal" early in the day, it is very difficult to stop by the day's end. Perhaps, you can eat lightly during the day and save your calories for the night so you end it in case it does get out of hand.

Also, as a "special meal" I prefer things that don't have too much fat to keep overall calories relatively low.
But, the main purpose of this meal is for psychological satiety more than anything. There isn't really a limit, it's when you realistically feel satisfied with the idea of how much more cardio you want to do later on.

There are no guidelines. Just do what you feel is logical and right. It's when people (like yourself) get too caught up in rules that they start thinking in a negative and harmful way. Eating disorders develop this way, by imposing rules and delving into an "all or nothing" mentality.
It's not a CHEAT meal...it's a TREAT meal. You are not doing anything bad. You are rewarding yourself.
Start thinking in healthier terms and you will be healthy- body and mind.

Are you dieting for a specific purpose? Are you low carbing? If the answer to both is yes then go ahead and eat whatever.
However, if you are simply eating healthily to lose fat then you need to find a way to satisfy your cravings without thinking in terms of cheat meals/cheat days. Perhaps give yourself 1 day per week to increase your calories and carbs to maintenance levels so that you don't feel like eating junk. Perhaps make your diet more interesting.
I hate the whole theory of cheating. It eventually turns into a binge/purge type cycle - your binge like hell on your cheat day and then get back to a strict diet. You end up making no progress dieting and may well develop an eating disorder.
A healthy diet is part of a healthy lifestyle - is 'cheating' EVER part of a healthy lifestyle? Find a way to make eating healthily satisfying, so that you don't feel like stuffing your face on 'cheat' days. And realize moderation is everything - you can eat a donut once in a while but a huge serving of pancakes and 2 donuts isn't moderation.Food quality does not change the laws of thermodynamics. Provided you consume adequate protein, EFAs, fiber, and vitamins and minerals you can eat whatever you want.
The only difference between a 'clean' and a 'dirty' food is how much of it you eat.
The Glycemic Index is meaningless unless you eat carbs alone in a fasted state. As soon as you add fat, protein, or fiber to a meal or have eaten in the previous 4-6 hours the GI is irrelevant.

I agree with this statement...i have been on keto for 4 weeks now and i have my carb up from 12 on friday to midnight on sunday. I generally have and organic farms bowl of cereal for breakfast and then i eat some fresh veggies (personally i like green beans, and celery, sometimes broccoli) I also try to rid my self of any cravings i have, but with healthy options. Like for me...pizza, so i make a personal pizza on a whole grain tortilla with tomato sauce and turkey pepperoni. I have a link to a whole website on healthy meals (most are low carb, but some are not) here is that link
