I use to train them after every workout (I workout 3-4 times a week).
However, now I let them rest for a week and noticed a significant gain in their strength.
So, should I keep on working them every workout or is it better to give them more rest?

I train them once a week, just do 3 exercises on my shoulders/traps/abs day.
Your abs work a lot when you squat and deadlift as well, so there's no need to train them so often.Workout journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=116712111
