ATTENTION: personal trainers

iiiiiiiiiiiii have a crush on one of the trainers that works at my gym. lol hes so freakin hot and of course he has a bad ass body. are trainers allowed to date members?? we both look at each other everytime im there, but he hasnt talked to me or anything... i cant decide if hes just not interested, or if hes not allowed to since he works there.

Discuss.

I haven't became a trainer yet (studying for few certs as we speak). My friends that I train always talk about this issue. My guy friends always tell me that the perks of training is becoming friends with hot chicks. To me however this is not a perk at all. Its a touchy issue. I, personally, would not try to date any of my clients, nor would I try to sleep with them. Its just how I am wired (call me stupid if you will, but I have some conciousness). I think that you should be ok approaching him. You would not get any answers until you do. Nothing wrong with it if you are attracted to him. Plus I don't think you are his client (from reading your post) so go for it. He is probably the one that will have an issue because he is a trainer.

Well you said you're a member not a client.

If you're not paying money for him to train you then it's fair game.

As long as you're not one of his clients, it is probably ok. It is very frowned upon at my gym to date clients.

Id say it depends on the gym. In my gym it wouldnt be any problem. In a big chain gym it might be a problem

i guess it depends of the gym policies but as hes not training you i think it would be ok.

I guess it also depends on his own morals/beleifs. He might not want to date gym members as he doesnt want to get that lable of being the gym pimp.

Yes you can ask him. Its fair game as long you aren't his client. Who is to say you two didn't meet somewhere outside of the gym? Now if only MORE girls had the guts to do something about it....

Oh, wrong gym, nevermind....

Many times it is frowned upon to "hit on the girls in the gym you work".

The old "don't sh*$ where you eat" reminder.
If things go wrong then the girl is always around and it can get ugly, same as an office.

I don't currently work in a gym, but have seen WAY TOO MUCH DRAMA.

Plus, he may be married/engaged/involved and just quiet about it, but won't hit on any girls because of it.

hey, if you dig him, use the old "are you married or in love or anything?" Question.
You'll find out then as he'll probably answer honestly.

Alot of our guy trainers are seriously hot- whew- but a few have gotten the rep for playboys and players for dating so many women from the gym- it really screws up their business. He may be one of the guys who simply does not date women from the gym he works at. Its a good policy as we women tend to chat

Don't date him. If it doesn't work out. Are you still going to want to train in the same gym. Don't Sh$t where you eat. And I'm saying this from my own personal experience.

A lot of the trainers I work with hook up with their clients, but none of them date them. We don't think twice or even bat an eye if a trainer and MEMBER hook up and/or start dating. The biggest unwritten rule we have is that under no circumstance do you make any kind of move on another trainer's client.

And MVP is right, it can be a dirty business.

LOL. Least amount of professionalism EVER in that show. But yeah, do yourself a favor and get a gym membership somewhere else if you date him. Personally I woudln't date you (even though you are very pretty) just out of my own beleifs not to mix buisness with pleasure. With that being said if you got to know me on a friend basis and we became known as friends way before hand, it might work out; but I'd still prefer to date girls who workout somewhere else.

Many trainers workout where they don't train so they can bear down and not get bothered; find out if he does that and talk to him there if he does.

Unwritten rule? I got most of my clients by showing that I am a better trainer than any of the PTs I stole the client from.

And yes, its the most dirty industry there is.

On a serious note dating in the gym is something every gym has different policies about. Some allow it, some don't and some just don't speak about it (dont ask, don't tell)

I've worked in both scenarios and quite frankly they both weren't a big deal. However, from my experience, the majority of the drama is from trainers dating other trainers. Or in one case, a female married trainer (her husband was a trainer there as well) was regularily engaging in 3 ways in the sauna with 2 other trainers. When that blew up, a good chunk of trainers got fired or quit and all of a sudden, I had way too many clients.
