Yeah, the pic disappeared for some reason.

It was just one of those Ironmind hip belts for squats:

I was wondering if it was worth the $120. I don't know if anyone has every used it before.

What does that do? Isolate the quads and hips and remove any effort by the back? I wouldn't spend the money on it.

I originally read it as 6 sets of 3 then 6 sets of 2. I was amazed at how long you were willing to sit on a bench haha

True. I forgot Mr. Life was having back troubles. Personally, I would rather just do leg press and such though. Don't see the point in spending money on circumstantial equipment. That $120 could go toward a home gym or something.

He could just deadlift and become the next Benni. Or at least a mini-Benni.

yeah...$120 seems a bit much just for a piece of material that goes around your waist and holds some weight. especially since it would be a real pain in the ass to go heavy with that

Definitely. You'd probably need help loading the weight on and such too because there's no way to get on top of blocks like that when loaded up unless you created stairs with extra blocks, lol. I guess you could try to just step up but I imagine it'd be incredibly awkward and difficult with heavy weight.

It felt fine today actually. I was uneasy because I thought I strained my glute pretty bad cutting down trees yesterday, but it turned out to be okay.

I am TERRIBLE at reps with front squat, so it felt almost normal strength today. 225x6x5 is about as much volume as I've done at that weight. My form also looked really great in the mirror; my knees were not doing terrible things.

I think this is the solution, and I don't need one of those hip belts. Front squats and super close stance leg press should help my legs to get super strong and jacked so I'll be awesome when I come back from my back injury.

I am considering making the trip, still not completely sure yet. I am basically considering an October 29th meet, November 6th meet, or the Raw 504 meet on November 12th. I guess we'll see!

I'm actually thinking today's workout may have been fairly productive, given Stan Efferding's light session of the week is 100% quad focused machines: leg press, hack squat, etc.

If there is ever a video of this 854 squat, I'll know for sure if it is legit.

You'll never really know. They're very careful with their squat video angles...

I was wondering if it was worth the $120. I don't know if anyone has every used it before.
Buy a dip belt for $25-30 and add some chain to it. I wouldn't spend $120 on something I could get or make for less than half.

Cool stuff about the wife. We just had our little boy on the 12th. My wife is ready to get back into shape too. She doesn't lift, but she likes to run and do triathlons. She had a c-section though, so her recovery may take a little longer.

Belt squats would be ideal because of the lack of spinal loading, but you seem to be tolerating the front squats and leg presses just fine. Could be a good alternative as an assistance exercise in the future if you're feeling too banged up after heavy back squats to do something like good mornings or lunges.

I figured some upper back work is better than nothing.

    (biceps, abs)

I probably won't be logging much on here in the following weeks. I just don't have time, so if I want to give a lot to working out, I'll have to cut back on the internet and other things. I also need to get a head start on my dissertation and work on some publications this summer.

Some sample workouts from my 60-hour-a-week summer job:

Carrying 10,000 lbs of railroad ties several hundred feet down the side of a hill.
Digging trenches for irrigation piping down for 13 hours on the side of a 50 degree hill.

No PRs, but I am on a regular routine now for everything, and squatting is much more back to normal although I'm still having some issues with the ol' back.
