Well , Im trying.
Hi! About six months ago I took a before picture after finding out I am diabetic and had to drastically change my diet. I have also attached a recent after pic. In the before I weighed 194 at 5ft3 the after 143. I know I still have a long way to go and have gotten this far from diet alone. I dont have any gear to really work out with besides a few dumbells. Please tell me what you think.

Well man, you're in the right place. I got started through reading this thread back in summer last year and have since lost over 100lbs. This thread was the initial motivation but the tools I needed to help me get fit were elsewhere on the forum.
Read up on how to exercise properly and how to eat right (diet is the most important thing at your stage). Don't make a mistake and do your own thing - chances are, you'll probably get it wrong so you need to read, read, read. The info supplied by the people on this site is exactly what you're going to need to make the journey from fat to fit.
Take it all onboard, act on it and as long as you want it, you'll get there.
Good luck!!

Progress on getting lean
My profile photo is where I'm at now I've been working on getting lean, now just started a clean bulk using HST to try to add some size, don't know my bodyfat percentage in my profile photo so anyone good at guessing I'd be interested to know. Thanks for looking and congratulations to all who have posted on here everyone provides a motivation to everyone else and I think that's what makes this site an amazing place, positive feedback and appreciation from strangers is powerful!

Thank you very much I'm 5,11 or 180cm and I weight 69kgs and a 29 inch waist at present so hence the now wanting to do a lean bulk I'm just trying to work out my macros and what style of eating to use, I've been tempted by leangains but I don't quite get the calorie and macro intake properly and Martin berkhan still hasn't brought out his book yet! How about yourself what are your current training goals?

Impressive! That gives me a good idea of how much more I have to lose... I am 5' 10" and 167 lbs... so, at an inch shorter, I should have to get even lower weight than you.
My transformation is 2 pages back, I believe. I am currently still cutting... I am planning to keep cutting til about Easter, and then start bulking slowly and cleanly... for a while. I need to put on some muscle, since I don't have much right now. Plus, I need to fill in some loose skin... 80+ lbs lost, it didn't do me any favors. LolSept 2010: 248.8 lbs
Nov 2011: 162 lbs
Dec 2011: 172 lbs (mini bulk, and a few holiday cheats)
Jan 2012: cutting again....
Hmm... somebody's traveling light!... Meh, maybe you're getting stronger.... Well, I have been eating more!

Sounds like you have been doing well and you are still making decent progress! When I was doing my cut I was on a primal eating diet of protein, fruit, veg and lots of good fats with no processed food or carbs that's what got me lean as well as following a basic three day a week compound lift routine to keep what muscle I had whilst I did cut. Also I pretty much only drank water or herbal tea I cut out all alcohol and soft drinks and anything with sugar in.
Just a little gist of what I did in case you were interested, and believe it or not except bracing my abs hard in every exercise I never did any direct ab work what so ever in fact for some strange reason if I started working my abs my appetite dropped and training motivation did too it was odd!
I wish you luck in the rest of your training keep focussed and imagine just how great you will feel when you get where you are happy, that will be a great day for you!

Well up until recently it was all about weight loss. But now I've started weight training and really want to focus on slimming down and toning. But I'm still really learning how to tweak my diet to compliment my training. I'd like to lose a lot more body fat and then really tone up my arms and back.
