Mon & Tues deloads, Wed & Fri rest.
Went to school and got this one in at the weight room there. Gonna be fun being able to train there and save time on travel.
Squat
340 x 1 *4
Bench
220 x 2 *4
Deadlift
375 x 1 *3
Barbell Curl
45 x 8 x 3
Rope Pushdowns
"40" x 8 x 2
Bench set up. There's no bench press here so this was the safer of the two racks to set something up in. I really like it because you can set the pins just below chest level too for safety.

Got my last one in yesterday. Body feels so much better. No tightness in my hips, shoulders feeling good, everything right where it's supposed to be.
Got on the scale this morning @ 170. That's the weight Eric suggested I try getting to by the meet, really only meant gaining a lb or two.
Berto is gonna pick attempts for me Friday. I'm pretty sure I have a most likely game plan for bench, but the other two gonna wait and see. Pumped!!
Squat
320 x 1 *3
Bench
210 x 2 *2
Deadlift
350 x 1

USAPL Raw Nationals 2015
Meet Day
We got to Scranton Thursday around 11am, and Tom and I would lift the following day. We got to see Brad Loomis from 3DMJ crush his meet, PR's across the board and his best wilks to date. Also ended up third in the master's division. Awesome guy.
Morning of the meet, I got up, ate a little before weigh-ins. Because I opted to move up a weight class, I wasn't on the original 83kg roster and figured I would weigh in toward the end. They gave everyone a number ahead of time, and if you missed your name when your number was called, back of the line! I gotta say, not just the weigh-ins, but the entire meet was run so incredibly smooth. I was shocked at how quick they were moving. Four platforms constantly running, and everything was on time.
Weighed in at 170. At a little more and got ready to roll, as I was in the first flight. Turned out Tom would be the same platform, flight C, so he could watch me, and have time to warm up before he was up.
Warm-ups felt awesome. There had to be 12-15 racks in there. Just had to move around and work in with people. It wasn't a problem at all. My last warm up felt fantastic. Eric had given Berto my numbers and some ranges ahead of time, so we were ready to rock.
Squat: 380/392/402
Bench: 242/253/270
Dead: 424/446/457
Total: 1129.99 lol.
So here's my thoughts before I drop the videos in. Squat, while the video might not show it, I feel I had a little more. I told Berto I wanted at least 402, but to just pick the 3rd for me, so I didn't know what was on the bar.
Decided to get more aggressive on bench. I loved taking a smaller jump between 1 and 2 and then reaching for the third. Berto told me that's actually pretty common. This way, I wasn't totally smoked after the 2nd. 270 is more than I've even hit in the gym so that was cool.
Deadlift, I made a small mistake. I was all hyped up and miscommunicated what I wanted for my final attempt. This is the same pull as the May meet, but not nearly as grindy. I'm sure I was good for a bit more.
At the end of the day, performance wise, how could I be unhappy? Came away with a total PR and a completed meet, after training was so painful this summer. I learned what I need to do to work around this issue now.
Here's all the third attempts.

Rest of the Trip
It was so much fun man. Our boy Andrew, also coached by Eric broke 1300 for the firs time. My brother got around a 50lb meet PR, adding a ton to his squat.
Saturday morning I got up extra early and got us front row seats at the platform where the 93's were gonna battle. It was seriously one of the most fun sporting events I've been to.
LS McClain was awesome to watch. Comes out smiling, ear to ear, just full of confidence and love in every lift. He nearly locked out a 501 bench for an American record. I mean, it was like an inch away.
Ryan Doris crushed it. I believe 9/9. Got to meet him in person, what a guy.
Jesse Norris. What's there to say. He's an absolute animal. Tom and Andrew talked with him for a bit at equipment check ins. Super humble, to himself. Smoked the world record in his squat opener lol. Then, if you hadn't heard, got red lighted for depth on 733 twice. Very controversial call, but he still won the class by over 50kgs I believe. Benched in the low fours and nearly pulled 800. Crazy that he had not a great day, went 5/9 and still crushed the day.
Layne. Without going into a huge long story, it was absolutely incredible to watch him. His wife, Isabella, sat next to us on the floor when he was up. We got to talk quite a bit. She was sitting there, cheering and screaming for every dude in his flight. There was no negative words toward Jesse, or anyone else Layne was up against. Then I saw him acting the same way. Supporting everyone else, but then just mind on the game plan for his go. Tom got to talk with Layne a little bit in the warm up room before they started. Two really awesome people.
Then, Sunday we stayed to see Bryce and the 105kg class and eventually Ray Williams. Bryce killed it. 9/9, I think 50lbs on his total, and more in the tank everywhere. His class came down to the final pull. I was watching Bryce and two others closely, and a fourth guy pulled enough to put him to the top. Bryce finished 3rd.
Ray Williams--dude. Another one that's amazing to watch. He smoked his opener, took 901 or so on his 2nd, and got called for depth. Hit it on his third. Would have been cool to see what his third had been otherwise, as his WR last year I think was 938.

Some eats!
Had to get a couple food pics for you guys Actually ate pretty infrequently outside of meet day, as I was in the venue the whole time. Awesome Irish pub a cross the street we hit a few times. Tom and Andrew picked an Oyster Bar that I got an interesting burger at. Went to Mohegan Sun one night just to get out and do something--we all took the $20 free play from them but didn't hit for anything. Also got something I haven't had in...probably years!

Absolutely. LS got three reds on a super quick and smooth final deadlift, did the same thing. I think it was for shoulders not back. Anyway, shook all hands, smiled, and apparently was frustrated after in private, not on the platform.
Turns out that pull would put him ahead of Layne and locked up 2nd (unless they bumped Laynes 3rd).
Either way, great example set by these two and a lot of other.
