I'm in on that crew for sure. My best front squat is still 130kg paused. Doubt I could do it now and I just CG benched 205lbsx14, 225llbsx10. It's pretty sad how I know what I need to improve yet I've been wasting time 'procrastinating' my lifts.

hey, i had a question on cleans... how do u guys go from catching your clean then to jerking it?
when i catch my clean at the bottom, i can FS it up pretty easy, but the bar is resting on the middle of my fingers, making it very difficult (not to mention dangerous too) to jerk it.
was wondering what i should work on to be able to catch the clean like this:
all he has to do is lower his elbows and hes in a good position to jerk

ftwrestler, here is the promised video:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B3w_...hucFNySDg/edit
Very close, but no cigar. I considered going for the last rep for a second, but I knew I didn't have enough left in the tank. I gave it everything I had. But that's OK. It's actually very common for me to hit one less than the prescribed reps for one session, only to make all the reps on the next session when I attempt the same thing. So, I will try again next time I FS. Which is Sunday.

Inspired by the Poverty crew (and since I'm no longer a broke college kid)... I present to you: Middle Class Weightlifting, Episode One.
Pretty ****ty day of lifting. Snatches were okay, felt pretty fast compared to my lifts of late. Cleans were a different story, as I hit 3 doubles at 102 kg which felt incredibly heavy/hard, when normally that's a weight I can smoke easily.
I then hit 107 kg and 111 kg, and went for a PR of 120 kg. I've front squatted 125 for triples so I thought I'd make this easily, but for some reason I missed all 4 attempts. I'm chalking it up to fatigue/my awful diet this week. Need to clean it up and hone it in if I want to hit this weight before the end of 2012 (and possibly civilization as we know it.)
Finished up with front squats, hitting 111kg for 5 triples, really focusing on keeping tight and upright and not losing my center of gravity. I worked up to 125 kg for 5 triples last week, but figured maybe it's time to drop the weight a bit and really work on keeping tight.
--
Anybody have any thoughts on the missed cleans? I'm not really sure what went wrong and just last week I front squatted 139 kg so I'm not sure it's simply just lack of leg strength.
Like I said earlier I'm chalking it up to just one of those weak days we all have, but any thoughts/critiques are appreciated.

^The first and third clean were clearly caught too far forward and you had to ditch the bar. I have no idea what went wrong in the second clean. Catch looked fine but you couldn't stand with it. Maybe your legs were just weak and tired on that particular day. It happens. It happened to me yesterday, but then I almost PRed today.

poverty weightlifting episode 3 in the works!
^^^Reidy every single one of those cleans got out in front of you. if you had pulled that bar right to your chest you would have gotten them. that being said 120 will fall real soon, plenty of pulling power and what sound like a lot of leg strengthGet This Shiiiiiiiiiiiit

Sure brah just make sure you record it when you get it!
I agree with you on the whole sense of community/camaraderie. Even though I have poverty lifts everyone here is such a big inspiration. To be honest, I just want to be better than all of you lol
so much this. brb great Poverty Weightlifting video coming up brah
First off, you gotta find out what's comfortable for you when it comes to the jerk. You should however be very weary when trying to emulate what the Chinese do lol. They're some crazy mother ****ers brah.
Keep the vids coming! 1 request though, get them at a different angle lol. As far as nailing that clean... like dbk said, keep the bar nice and tight to the body and it'll just feel perfect once you catch it in the bottom

I was wondering whether any of you guys have tips on how to bounce out of the "hole" when catching the clean? I only manage to do it sometimes and more often than not I just stop at the bottom and then struggle up with it (I really need to get my squat up). Its just wasted energy that I could be putting into my jerk but I'm just not since I haven't mastered the technique yet.
Any ideas?Strength + Speed = Power
If you never fail, you aren't truly pushing yourself to the limit. If you never push yourself to the limit, how do you know what you're truly capable of?

My gym night went a little worse so i'll cliff it.

-not allowed to film(even tho gym was pretty much empty)
-girl who works there comes over and yells (this is the 2nd time)
-I pretty much roid raged
-Loaded up metal bar on floor with metal plates and started deadlifting & banging 315lb loudly
-Did this for a while till they were looking like theyre were gonna kick me out (kept getting warned)Misc Strength Crew

Sounds like you got a bunch of dicks who run your gym Scarboro. Is it a globo gym?
My gym has a strict no cell phone policy UNLESS you're recording or logging your lifts, so I'm good.
--
I had a much better day today than last night. Tied my pathetic snatch PR (75 kg) and had 78 overhead 7 times but couldn't lock it out once. Then I clean and jerked 102 kg, just missed tying my 104 kg PR (probably would have had it if I hadn't set up so close to the front of the platform and could have saved it), then just missed 106 kg.
Then I squatted 161 kg for a new PR after 90 minutes of snatching and clean and jerking.
Finished up with some strict presses. Now I'm going to go eat 4,000 calories and then pass out for 10 hours.
