...Curse you for knowing my weaknesses so well. If you'd thrown in a pair of Demonias and some maple Crown, you probably could have summoned me in person.
For the sake of not publicly airing grievances, suffice it to say that I needed to get away from humanity for a little while. Sulky, cynical redheads tend to be downers. I'm pretty much back now though. =DSo, it turns out you can't kill a tumor with vodka...

Just curious . . . anyone else here train martial arts in addition to bodybuilding? I'm guessing maybe Artistry does given the avi (Iaido possibly)?

That's right. I remembered that you were into jujitsu too . . . that's great that your getting the club into the dojo! You'll have to let me know how it goes.
I know that Mindi is huge into MMA--haven't seen her around for a little while. There's a few folks over in the Over 35 that train, too. I'm finally ready to get back in after wrecking some ribs. They've been healed up enough to lift heavy again the last couple weeks, but just haven't been comfortable that they were ready for full-on grappling again. Might get in on Sat morning, but most likely will pick back up next week.*MFC Elder Statesmen Cabinet Crew*

This time tomorrow I'll be running my first full marathon...St. Jude Marathon in Memphis, TN. I'm excited, but pretty nervous...praying my body will hold up for 26.2!
The running group from my little hometown has raised over $5,000. So, Im hoping the thought of all the wonderful people who have donanated to the amazing kids of St. Jude and their familes combined with how damn hard-headed I can be will get me through it!
Any prayers, good thoughts, good vibes, or bone rattling is greatly appreciated. Thank ya much!!"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." ~Philippians 4:13

Thanks Botika and Una!!
St. Jude Marathon 2012 is in the books! Still can't believe I did it...official time 4:28:00!! It was painful, challenging, humbling, and sooooo very rewarding. The crowd support was amazing from start to finish...people cheering for you and thanking you...giving you high fives! And some personal encouragement I received along the way that meant so much to me.
Some highlights from the race:
- lots of Elvis costumes
- taking a shot of beer around mile 7 (while running!)
- me and my training partner taking goofy pics of each other at the halfway point (while running!)
- everything from quads to toes cramping at mile 18
- taking earbuds out and singing with fellow runners when the pain got really bad
- everything pretty much going numb at mile 23
- fellow runners wearing shirts reading "In memory of my son/daughter" (tears were shed)
And the ultimate highlight...running through the St. Jude Hospital campus at miles 5 & 24...patients and their families lining the street thanking you and holding signs like, "Run like your life depends on it, mine does!" (lots of tears were shed)
Seriously loved every minute of this race from start to finish. If any of you are considering running a marathon or half marathon, please choose St. Jude...you won't regret it!!!

Una, I wanna hear about your marathon!! Yeah, I'd heard about hitting the wall at either mi. 20 or mi. 23...I never really 'hit the wall' but serious pain really set in around mi. 18...just had to gut out the last 8 miles!
Everybody told me that training for a comp and marathon at the same time couldn't be done. It was tough...alot of my training runs were done with NO CARBS ugh! And it's been tough to grow muscle while doing so much cardio. But, I'm proud that I stuck with it. I know if I want to get serious and do well at either, I'm going to have to choose one. It's tough...I LOVE both lifting and running!!"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." ~Philippians 4:13

She doesn't post in the female misc very often but bethea powerlifts and trains in mma. Check out her journal, she posts her strength workouts and ma practices. Not sure how she does it brb pulls crazy numbers and can still go kick butt. Mindi also does both but haven't seen her around for a while.
If this were easy, everyone would walk around ripped.
I like eating, it helps with the not dying.

Mindi I knew . . . but she's been MIA for a long time it seems. Hope she's ok. I'll definitely check out Bethea's journal--thanks!!!
The reason I was curious is that I've trained martial arts for 16 years and it's always fun to share/learn with others who have that interest too. Twisted as it can be at times, LOL. Some nights I come home a little sore and beat up and my wife just shakes her head and says, "and this is FUN to you???".*MFC Elder Statesmen Cabinet Crew*
