Was just talking about this with some coworkers this morning. I watched up until the scene where they're outside a bar and like 15 people are shooting at 15 people with machine guns and one dude gets hit in the shoulder. I was done.

Haven't watched SOA yet. We just got the channel that carries it on our cable, but we have to start from the beginning. Definitely want to watch.

Blue Bloods is f'ing awesome. I love pretty much any cop show. Flashpoint is a good one, Rookie Blue, Detroit 187 before it got canned. Southland was great before it went from regular tv to whatever station it's on now that I don't get. I miss that show.

My wife DVRs a crapload of shows, most of which suck.

I haven't watch any of the series, but maybe after the 3rd book I will. Usually if I really enjoy a book I won't watch any movie or TV show about it, but this might be the exception since of my love affair with Sean Bean.

I have yet to start watching the HBO show, but I enjoyed all five books far more than I expected to. I am waiting impatiently for number six to be finished (although now he's saying that it might take eight books instead of seven to wrap it up ).

It was a grind to get through that 4th book, and it was so all over the map (literally and figuratively) that I didn't even bother with the 5th. Maybe once they're all out, and if reviews say he gets back to some decent writing, I'll invest some more time.

Yeah, this has bothered me for the last 4 years... we've really lost sight of reality here in the states. This has really made me feel ill... we've given the ability to kill anyone anywhere with zero risk to a bunch of psychos in washington with the push of a joystick button. It's a game to them because they know no consequences. It's very real to the rest of the world.

Fifth is better than the fourth; the main problem is that the story has now sprawled out of control and the publishers are just trying to get the books out so quickly that they're not taking time to edit them properly (read: at all).

at least Romney wouldn't be contradicting himself because he's probably never talked about drones before

Robert Jordan created this debacle in books with the whole 7, 8, or 10 book series. It's all about stringing readers along with these convoluted story lines so you can make an extra buck selling more books. GoT could easily have just been a traditional trilogy with a clear beginning, middle, and end. It would have been much better that way, with Martin just starting another trilogy set in the same world if he wanted. Fans would still buy it.

5th was better than 4th imo, but no end in sight and the dude is so old/unhealthy I don't see him ever finishing.

A lot of people are worried that he'll die before completing the series à la Robert Jordan. If he does, he'd better have super-detailed notes to at least let people know how it will all wrap up.

Ever read the Saga of Recluse series? That author did a fine job of allowing new characters and just letting the world be the binding element.


GoT TV show is awesome though holding very true to the books.
