I have a B.sc Hons, but theres chit all jobs for just an undergrad in my industry, so need to go back for a Phd.
Unfortunately that means I cant work full-time and save up for a deposit on a house, need to rent and live near the poverty line on a stipend. Other kunts are getting married and buying houses at my age (24) and I'm still renting a place. Granted, none of them have Phd's and work loser tradie jobs or cubicle hellholes, but stilll...............

This. I almost lost my house twice because of these banks dicking me around and the sellers growing impatient. I had to file everything short of stool samples to get approved after many delays. Even put down 30% and above the required income, but couldn't get approved because of a technicality and had my earning power cut in half on paper.
If you decide to stay here for a while, luckily housing is very affordable in Texas. Very satisfied with the price I paid for an 1800 sf house in Austin.Last edited by cyde; 06-18-2012 at 09:49 PM.

Purchased a debt (house) 3 years ago im 26 now and bout to sell it. Honestly mate your going to do what you want anyway but its highly over rated these days especially at this age. Just to give you an idea of how much of a rip off it is i roughly pay $19000 Aus a year in interest and $3000 of the principle a year on a small loan. You are better of renting cheaper and saving a MASSIVE deposit then buy a house and pay a **** load less interest. Once you crunch the numbers (and do it honestly dont kid yourself) you will see how bull**** the process is. Dont get me wrong id love to own a house but im going to wait till im in a MUCH better position in life where i can COMFORTABLY afford it. In the mean time im going to travel more and enjoy life while im still young.

I'm 26 and renting, and will be for quite some time to come. Doesn't really bother me. Maintaining consistent cash flow for my business is hard enough without a mortgage to have to worry about.
I'd love to buy a place, ideally an old warehouse that I could convert into a working studio with a small apartment above it (so that hiring out the studio would help pay the place off), but that's a long ways off at the moment. I need more money to get into that sort of position and it makes far more sense to invest what I earn back into my business than it does to invest it into a house - the returns are far higher.

1 why get married so young?
2 why does it matter where you live?
3 why did you move out of your parents place?
4 why are you comparing yourself to others in the rat race?
family friend who created a multi billion dollar company tells me, "dont buy a house or move out till you can pay cash for what you want"
poor miscer says "you're an idiot" this miscer probably makes 70k a year tops in his life
who would you trust when it comes to money?
i think ill trust the man with the 20 million dollar home who retired in his early 50s...Last edited by dirtbikeguy; 06-18-2012 at 10:40 PM.
