I use dumbells right now but I might switch to barbells soon. I kinda miss the bar lol. But right now I use 70 lb dumbells for a flat press. Hopefully soon the 75s!

Currently for flat bench I have been using BB but every month or so I will switch to DB to get some variation in my routine! I do the same for incline and decline presses as well.

i always used the bar and didn't seem to see much improvement, i switched to DB doing sets of 8 + 4 negative reps and in 3 months my BB bench went from 250 to 290. i highly reccomend using DBs with negative reps

I have to say goals have to be in mind when both asking and answering this question.
BB gives you those big numbers everyone wants to see. Its also an actual competition lift so to train how you fight you'd want BB.
DB allows independent motion. After an injury dumbbells range of motion and ability to work separately without the compensation makes it a clear choice. Dumbbell also can give a deeper press and better squeeze at the peak.

BOTH!!!! You can't just pick your favorite and do it constantly. Thats how plateaus come about. Alternate between the two or use both in a routine.

Personaly I did only DB after my shoulder dislocation and getting back to a bar felt awkward at first. I still use primarily DB though. Seeing a specialist this week for a check up.

Do DB and BB affect your chest muscles the exact same way? I'm starting to think that incorporating a BB press into my routine isn't even necessary if I have DB presses.

I'm doing 3 sets of 5 with 120's in each hand. Switch off between both, you don't want to get the muscle use to the same thing, the switch helps shock the muscle. However, I will say BB for heavy reps does wear down the rotater cuffs.

I do both. I use BB as more of a strength builder, and then DB press for hypertrophy. Prefer DBs due to the contraction.

Always preferred DB flat/incline, but will switch to flat BB/incline DB every 5 weeks or so. When not doing heavy or I don't feel exhausted, I do negative decline DB too.

    Got to 110's (50kg) for 8.
Stopped as my gym didn't have any more db's, lost a bit of strength but no idea what I can do now.
All I know is I did 99 (45kg) for 11 reps in November.
Personally I prefer DB's over BB as I seem to get shoulder problems with BB all the time.
