I don't remember it very much, but it put that fear in me to respect my parents even though I disagree.

OP unfortunately in today's society it's morally wrong to use physical force to discipline your kids. I've actually witnessed someone spank their kid (boy) for mouthing off then someone called the cops on him. Not sure what came of it, I was leaving as the cops showed up. but anyway - either remove your kid from the scene and discipline there (restroom perhaps) or leave it until you get home - which is probably what I'll do. Society is fuking stupid and most of the kids nowadays are sh!t because they don't get disciplined such as that girl in your OP..

Neither my brother or I were hit often, if at all, stern scoldings were a little more common, but not excessive. My brother was rebellious and occasionally rude in his teen years, but guess what, as he matured, he became an excellent son as well. Now both of us have excellent relationships with our parents and love them to death.

My wife and I looked at our group of friends we had before kids and then the ones we had after kids. We discovered that we rarely hung out with the friends that didnt physically discipline their kids because their kids ruined every meal and or event we had together. We also discovered that we almost always hung out with the parents that applied physical discipline with their kids. Their kids were all well behaved, enhanced our experience and allowed us to enjoy what we are doing...

Im not making a broad long term statement about behavior but I do know in my personal experience that physical discipline makes a HUGE difference in the early years....
