yeah, what sucks is that we have drilled thousands upon thousands of wells all over planet Earth and one thing like this happens and everyone turns their back on us.
People are also raising hell at BP, they better be glad this happened to BP and not some fly-by-night production company. Because if it had, you know who would be footing the bill? AMERICAN TAX PAYERS!
This is costing BP billions and billions, and will continue to do so far into the forseeable future.

that's exactly my point.
It's the same as the people who bought houses knowing the risk of investment, celebrated like crazy during the boom, and feel as though they need to be bailed out because of the bubble. Makes me rage so hard. You don't even know how pissed I get about this stuff.Spoiler alert; you die at the end.

Former process engineer for XOM. Analyst now.
You work inside on the console any or just out in the plant?
I had a great relationship with our inside and outside guys - we had a lot of fun and always got our sh*t done. I did so well they moved me to HQ.
They should. But I'm guessing those guys don't come out as often as the petroleum and ChE's.
Regardless Big Oil will have ME's in refineries and chemical plants. I told you how many ME's I worked with, right?
Big Oil is a good place. Exploration right now is not a good place in the US as the OP has mentioned.
We were ready to spud a drill in the GOMex that would have given us a small amount of crude by YE2010. That is out the window. People don't realize the moratorium is costing us in the price of crude out in 2011 and the future.RIP Dad

I'm an 18 year old pursuing my ME degree at a top SUNY school in new york. What are my chances of getting on the payroll for only like 3 months in the summer before I start my sophmore year.
