I make about 100k but I am the rig electrician, some jobs make even more than that. IE: Driller, tool pusher, OIM, subsea Engineer.
I am in the Gulf of Mexico so I work 14 days on 14 days off.

Currently in Walker Ridge 278, about 7000 feet of water, I work for Diamond Offshore, and we are drilling for Devon. Toolpushers name is Gordon Huckabaa.

Currently around 200 miles offshore
I fish alot, I have a couple pics and will try to post them
I have just started fishing at this location, haven't caught any sharks yet, but have caught Yellowfin, Blackfin, Mahi Mahi, amberjack, and alot of Barracudas.

I work a 12 hour day, 6 to 6. But since I am on call, they pay me an extra hour for that, and if they get me up, I charge them overtime for that as well. I two checks when I am at home, one for each week I am out here, and it is like any other job, my first 40 hours in regular pay, then about 53 hours of time and a half each week. Pay is awesome, but taxes rape me.

Whats the exact amount you make per week/month, do you need to be a US Citizen, do you need a passport to work there? What are the reqs ?

To put it this way, I could never make this much in Alabama, unless I was a doctor, lawyer, vet, etc.
I think it is worth it, I have much more time to spend with my girl than I used to. Think about it, I have a two week vacation every month, most people get two weeks a year. And it is actually not that bad out here. I get to eat whatever I want to, for free!

I make much more than the average person would make just coming out here. You just being 18 and not having any kind of prior experiance would start out as a roustabout, which all they do it hook **** to the crane, paint, clean up and help out on the drill floor when needed, and they start out at around 40k a year, not bad for an 18 year old straight outta high school. And you can move up very quickly. I don't believe you must be a citizen, as our derrickhand on here is Russian, and you do not need a passport to work in the Gulf.
