For some reason I remembered this today. He was 2 grades ahead of me and had just graduated.
Some of you guys might remember it, especially you NJ/PA/DE/NY brahs where it might have been local news. Here are the links to some of the stories but I'll provide a somewhat cliffed version that I have mostly from memory.

The kid, Matt Lovett was a senior when i was a sophomore and he was the kid you could instantly spot as the "outcast/weirdo/loser" (I feel bad saying that) within the 1st week of school. His look was something along the lines of shoulder length unclean hair, acne, skinny/unathletic, tight-odd colored sweatpants that didnt come all the way down his leg, high socks pushed down covering the rest of his leg and beat up sneakers. You could tell he was probably a very unhappy person and likely made fun of on a daily basis. All that said he seemed like a quiet/shy/nice enough guy. Even had a few other "loser" friends I believe.
People were ALWAYS saying "LOL dont make fun of him hes gonna go Columbine on our school LOL" and **** like that, i even remember it being said for him to hear! I never thought anything of it and just figured he had accepted his tortured HS existence. I never personally made fun of him or even really had any contact with him that I can remember. A good friend of mine had a electronica class where he sat next to him and said he talked to him sometimes and he was a decent dude and really not as bad as everyone said. He also had the mentality that "if im nice to him atleast he wont wanna kill me incase he does snap"
Some background of his life: Mom died when he was like 8 or 9, his brother had a severely cleft lip and had over a dozen face surgeries so he got made fun of that stuff when he was a kid (yes extremely fukked up stuff but kids at those ages can be cruel). He lived in the town next to mine, the kids from this town had a school for elementary and middle school then transfered into my HS. My mom worked at this school and remembers him being teased so bad at lunch one time THAT HE PEED HIMSELF INFRONT OF EVERYONE! Heartbreaking stuff. Also came to find out he and the kids he plotted with believed he had super strength (he didnt even lift) and super powers. Kinda thought he was Neo from the Matrix.
Advance to the day it all happened- I wake up, go downstairs and see the newspaper on the kitchen table. I start to look for the sports section when i see in the biggest newspaper font i have seen to this day "DISASTER AVERTED" and his mugshot on the front page. So im naturally like "holy ****!" I sit down and read all the **** about the plan.
He (18) and a 14yr old and 15yr old had armed themselves with a bunch of his dads WWII Era guns/ammunition, knives and other weapons. He had made a list of the people who had made fun of him the worst in HS, with their address and was going to slaughter them all and then go on a random killing spree around town shooting/stabbing whoever they saw and were later found to have "no intention of being taken alive"
So they all strap up and head out that night. They attempt to carjack this guy on his way home from a late night at work. He stops, they point the gun in his window and he speeds off and then calls police when he gets home. Police find the 3 and Lovett (the leader) points a gun at the cop, cop doesnt draw weapon and talks him into putting the gun down, all 3 taken to jail.
It's all over the news the next week or so, pretty sure it made national news as well, since hes 18 he gets tried as an adult. I remember at the time rooting for him to get sent to jail for as long as possible (not sure why) and he got a 10 year sentence for his plot. Now all i do is feel bad for the guy, trust me when i say jail is no place for him. He probably has had one of (and still having) the worst life's of anyone I have ever encountered....sad stuff

crazy to think what could have happened
to be honest, this sounds terrible but he should have killed himself instead of getting arrested. 10 years in prison with that background, i bet his life is worse then hell. its like plot to shoot up a school, attempted carjacking, pointing gun at a cop. you know you are absolutely fuked.

I feel bad for the dude and the kids who were pricks to him will get what they deserve, however how can he justify killing random people who did nothing to him. I understand he wanted revenge against people he felt made his life hell but as soon as I read he was gonna take out randoms who did nothing to him it made me glad he was in prison.
Edit : schools need to be more strict on pupils, if a kid is tormented by pupils on a daily basis then of course this type of **** is gonna happen. This kid IMO is a victim of society and now look where he is++ positive crew ++

dumbest logic ive ever heard
"oh lets not blame the kid for plotting and planning murders"
oh right, cus it was the bully's that stocked up on ammo and tried to carjack someone with the intent of becoming a mass murderer
bullying is stupid, but your logic of letting the person become a sociopathic murderer is 100 times worse

or unlucky, depends how you view it
im impressed though by the cop, he was probably in his rights to shoot the kid for pointing a gun at him, but im not positive on the laws. still props to the officer.
i think that kid will be the most fuked up person ever when he gets out of prison though, srs can you imagine when he gets out? wtf is he going to do with his life? unless he was in protective custody for 10 years he'll have been raped, beaten, i would have rather just been shot dead on that day
