Hi all,
I am currently cutting and today I skipped breakfast and I noticed that I can easily survive not eating anything till lunch and then I can have bigger lunch or dinner and it makes me happier.
Anyone is doing the same? I know there are some people who do fasted workouts and people who do warrior diet. I read the leangains site too.
Now is there scientific proof that fasting from say 9pm to 12pm next day (on regular basis) is not a big deal and you won't lose muscle? I am around 14-15% BF and trying to minimize muscle loss on a cut. Am I still too fat to worry about that?
If anyone has tips on this or has some credible sources to read on the subject I would appreciate it. If you do something similar and it works for you I wanna hear it too.
Reps will be provided.
Thanks!

Your completely fine man. Its all about the total ammount of calories consumed at the end of the day and waiting till the afternoon to eat your first meal is fine. You could wait till the end of the day and eat all your cals in 1 or 2 meals and still be fine.
I also like waiting till the afternoon to start eating when I'm cutting. If I have breakfast and lunch then that means I have eaten a solid 40% of my daily caloires and I'm always hungrier in the evening anyways so I love eating less durring the day so I can have a decent ammount of cals at night.

Above post is spot on.
What matters is hitting your targeted calories/macros on a daily basis. Whether you do that in 1,2,5, or 12 meals is entirely up to you.
By the time I have completed my training, I have not eaten for close to 13-14 hours. No biggie. I hit all my calories/macros for the day. For me it works.
Go look at my pics.

PBateman2, I saw your pics many times already It seems to work for you, but do you know scientifically why don't you lose muscles while fasting that long?
We all know that consumption of protein enables the synthesis of muscles and carbs prevent muscle breakdown: When you get neither from 9pm to 12pm your body is still fine? That's 15 hours.

It takes very severe conditions for muscle loss to occur - days of nutritional deprivation. Muscle catabolism is severely overhyped not only on this site but as well from supplement companies which helps feeds the nonsense.
Our bodies have adapted to long periods of famine in our species infancy. If our bodies really did breakdown after just 8, 10, or 15 hours of fasting and continued to do so, our species would be long extinct.
If you provide your body with the necessary calories/macros within a 24 hour time frame, you will not lose muscle.
Go to PubMed and you will find plenty of literature on this. Simple lit search.
Bottom line is to try for yourself and gauge your progress in the gym and with your physique. Let everyone know how you do!BRAINS & GAINS

Doesn't matter. You just gotta meet your diet numbers by the end of the day. If you can do so while having a breakfast then good for you. I personally try to push off my first meal of the day as long as I can (usually 10-1030am) when cutting. That gives me that much more food to spread out the rest of my day.
Whoever mentioned above that your metabolism will go down is wrong. You just need to eat your food in smaller meals through the day instead of a few big meals a day. This will keep your body burning.

hi koatliki, that's what I exactly do last month, and I realise skipping breakfast doesn't make me lose weight, and I started to eat breakfast and I lose weight (no kidding and same lunch and dinner portion), I guess what people say "eat to lose weight" is a correct statement.

Bro, im doing exactly the same thing. Ive always eaten Breakfast even when on a cut previously because I was worried about Catabolism. Two weeks in though and it seems to be working. I take an xplode on an empty stomach, hit the Cardio on days im not lifting and then eat as soon as im home. Ill keep you posted on progress.

I do the same thing. When I lift at noon every day, I've not had any caloric intake since the night before. I notice NO difference in strength, so I don't worry about it. After my workout, I get in about 80g of protein via a whey shake, then I have the remainder of my calories to eat like a pig at dinner. I get a little hungry in the afternoon around 3:00, but withing a half hour I forget about it and the hunger goes away. Bottom line, do what works for you as long as your caloric and protein goals are met.

I'm starting to agree with the notion that this kind of statement may not be true. Theres not enough evidence to support that the skipping breakfast, or "only eating 3 times a day" stuff will slow your metabolism down.
I even think the word "metabolism" itself is the most overused and misconstrued concept about dieting and the human body.Iron. Boxing. NFL. Mob stuff. New York City breed.

For people that say breakfast isn't that big of a deal it's all about calories in vs. calories out, they're right, but wrong.
Right: Your body will lose weight based on the amount of calories you're burning.
Wrong: Your metabolism won't jump start.
After sleep, your body has been fasting for 8 hours. If any meal is the most important meal of the day it's going to be breakfast (and post workout).
If you're worrying about not staying in the 'fat burning zone', try doing your cardio before you eat breakfast."Hai guys Im reading Plato's Republic, Thrasymachus is an epic troll but he gets counter trolled by Socrates over and over, bitch needs to LEARN." -Gancor

Everyone who said skipping breakfast is OK is completely wrong. You have to take into consideration HEALTH first, and the weight will come off inherently. I have read various places that people who eat breakfast burn 70 percent more calories throughout the day just by metabolizing various foods eaten throughout the day.
You need to keep your body digesting throughout the day to lose weight, or you will go into starvation mode and store everything you eat as fat in order to digest SOMETHING. If you think about it this way; you go to bed at, let's say, 10 PM then you get up at 8 AM and you don't eat until noon. You have gone 14 hours without eating, so just think about what that could be doing to your body.
The best eating lifestyle is a balanced lifestyle that follows the mayo clinic food pyramid as closely as possible. Eat balanced foods and just limit your meals and caloric intake and the weight will come off easily.

I've been skipping breakfast for the last few months and I've been fine. And since I train around 11am, I'm still in a fasted state and my first meal is around 1pm (I follow IF).
I see garbage on TV saying breakfast is important because without it, your congitive functions suffer(can't think properly/straight/not paying attention etc) cause you didn't eat breakfast. However, I havn't seen a difference with or without breakfast so I no longer believe breakfast is absolutely necessary.

I've been doing this the past month while cutting. Haven't noticed a difference in workouts if anything I feel better working out without food in my stomach. Supposedly fasted workout/cardio burns more fat with your glycogen stores depleted so its using fat for fuel. I haven't lost any muscle or strength doin it this way. If you eat your calories for the day you shouldn't lose any muscle. I think I might try this when i'm bulking also I read that it will minimize fat gain.

I've been dong the same for the past few weeks and have noticed no adverse effects of doing so (or any meal timing for that matter). My meal timing has to do with having sufficient calories available when I know I'm the hungriest, which is lunch and mid-afternoon.. so lunch is my highest calorie meal, late afternoon snack is next, then dinner is my lightest... the result is that I've lost 2 more pounds

Bzzzzzz - FALSE.
Look at intermittent fasting. I've cut out breakfast now and it is SOOOO much better. I don't sweat over counting calories and I can enjoy my dinner (favorite meal) much better and eat a bit more. I'm less hungry during the day too.
If it isn't something you need to get going, then cut it. Some need breakfast to wake up and get energy.
And FYI, 1 meal doesn't crush metabolism. Gotta love the people that say, eat 6X a day and breakfast is the most important.I Rep back always. Put it in comment.
