Weird that you posted this today.
I am taking Boots to the doctor in about 40 minutes.
He is 16 years old and starting to get some problems.
I'm nervous to see what the doc has to say.
My wife says I'll be a mental mess without him.
I do have one that your looking for though.
Every day counts.

Hey man, my almost 18 year old cat died almost a year ago, found him when I was a young kid. I still have one cat though, she is awesome. If your cat is having problems you might want to ask them to check for diabetes. Hopefully it is nothing though. Good luck man!
Okay moar caturday pics!!!Have you done something today to take yourself to the next level?

I did take a urine sample and they said he does have diabetes.
I don't know if it is standard or not but they said that they need him for a week. This will allow them to figure out what dosage of insulin he will need throught tests. The initial cost will be $500 - $600 then about $100 each month for the rest of his life.
There is a special food for diabetic cats that I learned about.
I guess sometimes it is enough to get a cats blood sugar under control.
I might try that and see if he gets any better.
The Doc (vet.) said it MIGHT work.
If it does not work then I guess they will have to take him for a week.Last edited by ntrllftr; 11-22-2008 at 10:51 AM.

So diabetes was the thing wrong? Well I am sorry that anything is wrong with your cat but at least you found out now. Hopefully the cat food will help regulate it and he will have some good years left. Keep me updated on his status and I really hope it goes well. Cats are so cool to have around IMO. WHen I sit down on my couch my cat jumps right up there to cuddle with me, then she puts her head on me to make sure I know she is there.

My cat is more loyal to me than the dogs I had growing up.
One time we were ouside cooking out. I had Boots outside with us.
The neighbors dog about 40lbs came over and was by my son. I saw Boots just watching. The dog barked then in a moments time Boots chased the dog away. He fetches a toy mouse instead of a ball like a dog.
Alright back to the pics...Every day counts.

What are you feeding your cat? My cat was diagnosed with diabetes and a ton of other weird stuff. Food has a lot to do with helping. Just like people, they need to eat healthy food. My cat was 12 when she was diagnosed. I was able to change her diet and it went into remission. They had her on insulin too. There are better foods than what the vet will give you.

My cat (Rusty) is diabetic, I have to dose him with insulin every morning.
On the insulin that sounds rather expensive, The insulin is high but I checked wit hour vet and they said there was no reason not to use the vial until it was almost empty as it doesnt denature that rapidly as long as your storing it in the fridge., so we get 3-4 months out of a vial. We use the purina diatetic formula to feed him with. its 42 bucks for a 12 pound bag

This was my sweet kitty. She was abused severly and I adopted her in November. By January she was diagnosed with feline infectious peritonitis and declining quickly. I had to make a very difficult decision, and it broke my heart. I still miss her. She was only about 10 months old when she passed.

Those vids were hilarious...
I love this pic, this little kitten is exactly the kitten I was going to bring home about 4/5 years ago now. I paid the breeder, she was getting big and strong or so I thought. Was making the house ready for her to home to.... 2 weeks before we were able to collect her she died of kidney failure. She was a little Burman.
Perfection in mind, perfect body!

After Boots passed away I said I would never have any pets in the house again.
Then one day my SIL brought over a kitten that she found...
I went to take it to the APL that day. They said that they do not keep them for adoption.
I didn't have the heart to leave her there.
Then the following day my wifes friend called and said she found a kitten in her barn....
So I figured WTH and here they are today....
Every day counts.
