Not at all, my hours are very flexible and self made besides certain meetings with clients and bosses that can be dictated more by them. 5 o'clock just a figure of speech to help fit in with the rest of the 9-5 slave laborers. I've been there before and literally don't know how people do that their whole lives, it's so soul sucking, I lasted about a year in my 9-5 office job after undergrad. Never again, would honestly just remain unemployed before taking a job like that again.

I think it's just what technology has made non labor jobs. I mean everyone is always connected. There are many times I take care of things during "non-business" hours because I care about doing a good job and in many cases taking care of something immediately is easier than putting it off. However, there are plenty of times all my devices get put on silent and I just enjoy my off time, which I think more people need to be doing. IMO if someone is in the situation where they can be "bothered" while not working, it's on them unless the job demands someone be reachable 24/7..... And if that's the case there is always the option of finding another job.

I agree flexible hours and being connected, while being able to work from home etc. is a better situation, provided you can manage your own time effectively and not get sucked into the mode of always working which is unhealthy, and unfortunately a very "American" thing to do.

10-19-2019, 02:38 AM #1949- Your mindset influences your outcome. It's time to take out phrases like "I can't" or "I don't have time" and replace them with phrases like "I will make the time" and "I will keep working at it until I find a way that works." Success starts with the right mindset and believing in yourself and your dreams.
