What is going on with this year's Olympia, where's all the buzz, who do you think will win? Very small competitor number, around 15, the least of the past few years, probably lowest since the 70's. Dexter? Bonac? Who's the front runner?

My prediction:
1st Brandon Curry - coming off his win at the Arnold Classic earlier this year, beating Winklaar and Bonac, he has the momentum behind him and his physique updates to date have been very impressive.
2nd Roelly Winklaar - definitely can't rule him out, he finished third last year behind Rhoden and Heath (who aren't competing). He'll certainly bring the most muscular physique and if he is in condition he might very well go on to win. He was really off at the Arnold earlier this year and took 5th, but his recent guest posing and recent social media updates have shown this won't be the case come Olympia weekend.
3rd William Bonac - had a fairly high profile split with coach Neil Hill a couple of weeks back, although I'm sure he's still going to bring an amazing package, not having Hill to coast him in may be detrimental.
4th onward will be heavily contested, Cedric McMillan, Luke Sandoe and Nathan de Asha will be in contention but the guy I would put in 4th is Dexter Jackson. Finished 7th last year which was his lowest placing since 2001, however he proved he's still a major threat winning the Tampa Pro beating very stiff competition from Luke Sandoe in doing so.

Is it 100% confirmed Shawn isn't competing? Thought they might have changed their minds about banning him before he's actually prosecuted.
Also any chance of a surprise showing by Kai? I'm guessing no but I've seen some training clips where he's in pretty damn good shape.Awesome pics. Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight. Keep us all posted on your continued progress with any new progress pics or vid clips. Show us what you got man. Wanna see how freakin' huge, solid, thick and tight you can get. Thanks for the motivation.

Yeah throws a big spanner in the works! If he competes in 212 he should win it comfortably in the absence of Flex Lewis, if he competes in the open I think he'll likely break into the top 3 (behind Curry and Winklaar imo).
I think the main consideration is the prize money between the open and 212, in 2018 the open prize money was:
1st $400,000
2nd $150,000
3rd $100,000
4th $55,000
5th $45,000
Compare that to the 212:
1st $40,000
2nd $19,000
3rd $10,000
To the best of my knowledge, no announcement has been made yet as to what category he's competing in, perhaps we won't find out until they weigh-in.

I'd like to see a winner it's not Phil, someone more aesthetic with a better midsection, a well conditioned Roelly might have a chance in my view. Anyone know where Mr O is webcasted this year. I always watch it on line but this time I really can't find this information from my country. Thanks in advance

Josh Lenartowicz isn't competing due to a tumor on his skull. He would have probably made top 10.

Ha ha seems a legitimate reason.
Some updates for the Olympia:
Hadi Choopan will be competing in the open
Nathan De Asha cannot compete as he has a pending court case here in the UK and logistically cannot do it (has a hearing on the Monday following the Olympia). This one is a massive shame as a Brit as there's been a rivalry building between Luke Sandoe and Nathan and I was excited to see how they would fare against each other.
Other than that I don't think there's been any updates. Even with the addition of Hadi, I still think the battle will be between Roelly and Brandon. Brandon has shared a few physique updates and looks on point, Roelly's updates have been a little less revealing, if Roelly does come in at his best then he will win it in my opinion.

I enjoy watching the classic physique but I find it's much harder to predict (partly because it's a new division and partly because it's usually hugely contested).
I'd expect the top 10 to be made up of the following:
Keone Pearson
George Peterson
Breon Ansley
Chris Bumstead
Danny Hester
Arash Rahbar
Henri-Pierre Ano
Steve Laureus
Dani Younan
Alex Cambronero
Top 3 favorites remain the same placings as last year in my opinion:
1. Breon Ansley
2. Chris Bumstead
3. George Peterson

separate post for thoughts and predictions.
unfortunately the olympia buzz has been away from BB.com for many years - sucks because I frequent this website and would love for there to be some more discussion. I get most of my pro bodybuilding updates from r/bodybuilding on reddit. honestly it seems like that forum is way down on content as well this year - probably due to a bunch of people being out this year.
classic:
I think breon takes it again. as mentioned earlier, classic is still so new and it seems like the judges are using different criteria each year but everything i've seen from Breon looks like he'll be the one to take it again. Baumstead still remains my personal favorite physique, but he hasn't been sharing any recent pictures so you can only go off of what you see in his youtube videos. he looks shredded, but it sounds like he may still have issues from last year plaguing him.
open:
what a weird year for the open with heath, rhoden, kai (obviously), big ramy, and others out of the competition.
as someone said earlier, phil probably would have walked away with it this year but at least it makes for some interesting conversations with who's left.
here's how I see it playing out:
1/2 clear seperation from the pack between roelly and brandon
3/4/5 Dex, Bonac, Hadi
The rest IMO is a crapshoot. I'd love to see Cedric come in shredded to the bone but BB still isn't his full time job and focus so who knows how he'll show up.
Still excited for the competition and look forward to seeing it, but definitely seems like a down year.Lets Go Brandon
