People retroactively trying to act like the prequels are in any fuking way good movies. Uggh.
Just 'cause they are better than the dumpster fire that is TLJ doesn't mean they are even remotely good.
The forced SJW chit in TLJ was awful, but it has very little to do with what made that movie garbage. So many other fuking reasons for it being a trash Star Wars movie.
Rogue One was 100% pure fan service. It was beautifully shot, had some amazing scenes, but fuk if I can remember single characters name 'cause every one of them was cliche garbage and the plot of the movie didn't matter because we already knew the conclusion going into it. It was certainly not a "good" movie.
Solo was a half way decent movie, but a terrible Han Solo movie. It made his character lame AF, while being a decent heist movie. Brb I'm named Solo 'cause i'm alone. gtfo.*Dallas Cowboys Crew*

That was a horrible scene. She just picked up a light saber a couple days ago. Swung it around by herself a few times.....
All of a sudden she's beating up multiple of the most highly trained, elite guard in the universe? Even Kylo was getting his azz kicked at one point and I think she saved him? Also, just lol

Prequel trilogy was definitely garbage but at least the movies had a few things going for them. They had a few good to great characters, they were packed with interesting alien/ship/area/tech designs, they had some genuinely dramatic moments, overall the story arc was solid despite the writing.
They had some incredibly bad qualities but at least they weren’t so bland.

Worst "Good guy goes bad" story ever written.
He literally goes from "Troubled" To murdering children in like 5 minutes.
The entire Final Light Saber battle was boring as fuk. Just 2 dudes swinging their **** around for no reason. Luke vs Vader in EP6 was 10x more impactful and emotional, and it had almost no Saber flair.
Padme dies because "reasons".
Come on bro.
It's ok to like parts of a crap movie. I fuking LOVE the Yoda vs Dookey fight in Ep 2. I get chills when Yoda's shadow enters screen, holy chit is it bad azz. But the movie is still like Sand.
And I don't like sand.
The Casino planet scene in TLJ was so awful, not only because it was an SJW fest with a horribly written character, but the side plot had almost nothing to do with the main plot, and the entire thing reminded me of something out of the prequels.*Dallas Cowboys Crew*

Bro you are obsessed with your specific formula for what makes a movie "good". Stop trying to be a critic. If a movie is enjoyed by people then it can be considered good. It doesn't always need to have a perfect story, or tick all the boxes for a film school student analysing a movie.
Prequels had awesome fight scenes, beautifully designed scenery and alien characters and great music. I can rewatch them now as an adult over and over and still love them. TLJ I could barely get through the first time.

If you want to define good as Enjoyable, sure. My opinion of the prequels isn't exactly unique. I'm of the opinion that just because I like something, it doesn't mean it's good. And if I dislike something, It doesn't make it bad. I prefer discussions of good/bad to be as objective as possible. I don't think there is an objective argument for the prequels being well written, directed, or having good dialogue. They are bad movies. There is nothing wrong with enjoying bad movies. I enjoy tons of terrible flicks.

I'm sure I'm more responsible for that than 4 Billion dollars.
Either way though, I'm not upset George doesn't own the IP anymore. Going from "I don't care about star wars anymore" via the prequels to "I still don't care about Star wars" doesn't bother me much.
The worst of the original Star Wars Movies was ROTJ. While still a good movie, it was the movie George had the most control over. That's why we ended up with fuking Ewoks instead of Wookies. He lost his touch long before the prequels. The prequels are what happens when George has total control.
I would want nothing to do with a George created episodes 7-9.
To each their own man. It's fine to enjoy them. I don't. I'm also bitter because Star Wars was my all time favorite franchise, read tons of the fuking books too. Then the Prequels happened and it was like wow.. Star wars is gay AF now. It still stings.*Dallas Cowboys Crew*

The prequels opened up the world and lore so much though. With the prequels came a ton of books, video games, comics, etc etc. All of which wouldn’t have been possible if not for the prequels.
And yeah, I realize the prequels weren’t liked by quite a few people. But they never divided the fanbase like the sequels have. Now we’ll forever have to live with Rose and Admiral Gender Studies.

TLJ definitely divided the fanbase more than the Prequels.. but I'd argue the prequels didn't really divide the fan base, most star wars fans disliked them at the time. They created a whole new generation of Star wars fans tho, who grew up with the Prequels as their "Star Wars". They are generally the same people who call ESB the "most boring" one.
There were a metric **** ton of books and comics written before the Prequels ever came out, several of them approved by George himself... and then the prequels chit on the lore created by those books (approved by him) as well. The Star Wars Universe was massive before the Prequels. The Jedi Knight Series of games predates the Sequels, as do the X wing series etc. So I think that it's disingenuous to argue that games/books/comics would not have been possible without the prequels.
I still fantasize about what Episodes 7-9 could have been had they simply done Timothy Zahns Thrawn trilogy of books, instead of.. whatever the fuk we got that retconned the Starwars EU out of existence. Least we would have gotten to see Jedi Master Luke Skywalker be a god damn bad ass for a few movies.
But hey, we can at least agree on how fuking awful TLJ was =p*Dallas Cowboys Crew*

Force Awakens was completely middling and boring. JJ Abrams wanted to cash a check.
Last Jedi was basically berating Star Wars fans, labeling them childish and petty, force-feeding agendas, and basically ****ting on ALL of the established lore in the franchise. Rian Johnson wanted to cash a check after sh!tting on the franchise.
Visually, they kind of nailed it in some spots, enough to sell audiences on the trailers. But then other scenes looked like complete sh!t (the casino nonsense.)
The prequels didn't feel QUITE as big on the cash-grab side. That aspect was there, it's a cash-cow franchise. But Lucas seemed intent on finishing Anakin's story and filling out lore. They suffered from way too many green-screens and CGI shots that never quite felt right, which IMO caused a lot of wooden acting, when combined with the script. He needed someone to keep him in check.
Phantom Menace wasn't half bad. Attack of the Clones was godawful, just a mess. And Revenge of the Sith could have been excellent, had it focused entirely on Order 66. But instead it only did that at the very tail-end of the movie. Major missed opportunity. Not as bad as AOTC.

Attack of the Clones is the most cringeworthy 'embarrased to be watching it even on your own' film of all time. My god. I can't even describe the cringe I feel inside in some of those scenes. Hands down one of the least enjoyable films I've ever seen. TLJ may not have been that good but god TFA is a heap of fun compared to any of the prequels, which have opening crawls referring to tax treaties and trade agreements wtf? Who the hell cares about that? That's not fun. Star Wars is supposed to be fun, not trade agreements you retards.
The prequels were just boring universe **** and walking and talking and characters who were cartoons. Fine for the geeks I guess who don't actually enjoy any of it just want stuff for their ****ing pokedex of star wars knowledge. If you honestly enjoyed AOTC you're either a liar or a ****ing autistic idiot.
To add to that, how the hell did George Lucas manage to extract the absolute career-worst performance from every actor he employed for the prequels? Ewan McGregor, Liam Neeson, Natalie Portman etc great actors but god, looking up at George's green-screens and piss-poor direction they had no hope. They all looked like they were chewing cardboard and/or riding obviously fake CGI space dinosaurs and looking like they had NFI what they were doing or where to look. You ****ing idiot George. After the original trilogy you were surrounded by yes-man for a good few decades and noone had the courage to tell you what you were filming was completely unenjoyable and cringeworthy crap.Last edited by HYMENATOR; 11-21-2018 at 01:58 AM.
