If you were going to put up a platform type setup in a home gym, how would you go about it? Rogue squat stand, and 3x3 Rack. Going to take the carpet out in most of the room if not all and put rubber flooring in a sub section, then platform for the rest.

In the big meets like nationals or IPL the spotters are constantly watched and consulted if they do something wrong. Anytime the weight goes over 700 on a squat or bench, Alan or Steve will make sure that there are two spotters on each end of the bar. Many times I've seen Steve come out and spot on a big squat or bench. There's rarely a problem with spotters and loaders at the big USPA meets that I regularly attend. LOL, I will admit though that last year at Nationals I think, I was backspotting a guy with around 500 and he stumbled backwards and I tripped trying to catch him and we both ended up on our backs. It was a slow fall and not violent at all, but stuff happens from time to time and the weight can move very quickly when a lifter fails.
I think the best thing powerlifting feds can do to ensure good spotting at meets is to inform their spotters of exactly what they expect of them and exactly how they want them to do it. Even if you're small, weak, never done it before, you can safely spot with 2-4 others with just about any weight if you're told how to do it and what not to do. Paying them helps too.1708 total @220 Raw
Improve my total every time I step on the platform.

Are you saying you have both or you want both?
I have an EFS 3x3 with weight storage and bar holders on two 4x6 horse stall mats I got from tractor supply. With the bar holders an inch from the wall, I have both mats under the rack and enough mat on either side of the bar it's served as a suitable deadlift "platform" when I lift outside of the rack. This will give you enough room to put something else, like a reverse hyper and/ or GHR, maybe a comp bench if you wanna do that.
Why would you do stands and a rack?If what I've posted offends you, please feel free to leave your need for validation below.

we making our single ply debut together or wat?
I just got an F6 and a Spartan Suit, but the suit is too small so I will return it for a correctly sized suit, either a Superior, Spartan, or Regular Centurion.
I think a Super Katana and Super Cent would be too much to start with from what I've gathered by talking to people.YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/NorthStrongSC

Unless you have an experienced crew, super katanas may be a little too much to start with. My first gear was a regular katana and an old super cent. I think you're fine with starting with a stock super cent. As long as it isn't crazy tight, it should be fine to learn in. Then you can have it taken in when you're ready.
Personally, the shirt took me a much longer time to feel even remotely comfortable with. So I'd say either F6 or a stock regular katana there.
Have fun and congrats on growing a pair and getting into gear lol

Sup guys. I havn't posted in a long time, but i've kinda died off from the forums a little over the years. After having a kid, and getting more into training killed much free time at times. I got invited to boss of bosses, where I will be competing at 242 class in wraps. I am stoked to have got invited for the "pro invitational"
Here is a HUGE PR from last night. Brandon Lilly is doing my programming for bob3, and it's going well. He told me to hit a new 3RM PR, and this was about a 55lb PR for a triple. We are hoping for mid 800 squat at bob3 if I can keep improving my depth on singles. Even though depth wasn't awesome here, but im still proud as **** at the speed of this.

Thanks man. Maybe 243-245 in the morning. I competed in many different classes last year. Started off with a no wrap USPA meet at 210. 2 weeks later 202 (trying for 198) in wraps. 6 months later I dieted down and actually did 198 class in wraps, then did 220 3 months later with no cut. Then did 242 3 months later, and I am going to stick with 242 for now. I've put on a little bit more size (and plenty of fluff) and jsut don't give a **** about my body composition right now.

Our Florida meets are still $75 + $2.50 PayPal fee and we have 1 meet a year that is $40 because it's sponsored by Florida Sports Foundation. It's funny though when I hear people complain about how expensive powerlifting is but then I see them sign up for full power, bench only, deadlift only, push pull, junior, collegiate, open and buy the meet shirt.
This is probably true. A lot of meet directors have to put a cap on their meet and since there is such a demand, they can charge more. Plus now that a lot of it is online, they have to pay transaction fees and sites like PayPal automatically report the income. Previously a meet director could just pocket some of the cash income and not report it.1372 @ 205
