I haven't lifted with the Westside bar, but I have seen one and felt it a bit. The knurl is sharper to a point more similar to a TPB. To tell you the truth, it seemed sharper than a TPB from what I remembered. The OPB doesn't feel sharp to me, it's a deep knurl, but not sharp, more of a blunted feel.

nope completely untrue, same shaft. only thing different are the sleeves, black zinc with the green composite bushing.
felt one side by side to a zinc OPB couldnt tell the difference at all in the shaft, profile of the knurling looked the same too.
the raw steel version does seem a tad sharper/grippier then the zinc version, I suspect the zinc tames the knurling ever so slightly.Best Raw total 1850 at 181 lbs

Hi Domicron,
Well, right now, there is no meaning yet, as the number has not been given or assigned. I think of it like a serial number, like when you enlist or get commissioned in the military. The number only has meaning to you. Maybe like your social security number.
The real numbers that matter on these forums are the numbers everyone keeps track of: body weight, weight on the bar, body measurements.
Admittedly I may be a little too eager to join the club. I have been humbled. Clearly, I need to do more lurking, but I think I will participate a bit more now.
My bar should arrive by the end of today. I look forward to buying more stuff from Rogue.

Nice looking machine! Was pretty excited about it, especially since it's like the only non-welded heavy duty lat machine I've seen...but the 97" height and the "must be bolted to floor" parts are gonna make me pass on it. You're also getting into functional trainer price range at this point
Hopefully they come out with a smaller monster lite version in the near future.

And let's see this monster rack mounted version as well...... Wouldnt work so well for me as you lose plate storage..... At a pretty steep price too, but it does look well made to my amateur eye.

This piece looks very well built and extremely heavy duty, but there is certainly nothing revolutionary about the piece. Pull downs are also very basic in terms of moving parts simplicity. This piece seems pricey considering the lack of really complicated machining processes. The reality is that this piece should be much less money, I also agree with Mech, 15 or 20 pound stack weights with a 5# increment weight helpers would make it just as functional and probably lower cost and height. The Body Solid piece is a import piece and maybe somewhat less heavy duty, but certainly this piece should not be double the price. Pricing issues aside, I like the piece and am glad rogue is getting into more machinery production, I just think they need to be more realistic in terms of pricing.

I would've taken cybex's design 20lb stacks with those 5lb plates that you just slide right onto the weight you're lifting.
This posting it very interesting, I had not thought of 10lb increments making a difference to the ROM. Thanks for sharing.
On a side note, isn't the legend cheaper shipping than the rogues without shipping?

I wonder if Rogue will build a plate loaded option.
Something simple like a stacked dual carriage for loading 45s at the bottom & 25s and on down above it. Since the plates sit outside of the unit, the ROM is still decreased, despite a dual carriage design. It would also make strips sets easier, since you can load up a ton of 10s or 25s.Crews: Ivanko Barbell Crew #52, York Barbell Club #95, Equipment Crew #59
Lifts no one cares about:

BP: 392x1 (pause bench, raw)

The Legend 971 with 300 pound stack should be at least 20% less than the Rogue stand alone version. Iron Co has it for 400 less but you can of course do better buying directly from Legend. Plus with the Legend I don't have to bolt it down, don't have to sit on the floor, and of course its Legendary. I think the small foot print of the Rogue version can be an advantage for a small space but obviously compromises stability, thus the need to bolt it down.
I quote with pics. ()---() York Barbell Club #78 (DD) ()---()

Megatec has a useful solution to this problem.
They produce a removable (yet very simple to install) 5lb weight which sits on top of the weight stack.
It simply slips over the cable and is held in place by sitting down over the top of the large pin which lifts the weight plates.
They also incorporated weight / band horns to further increase the utility of the machine.
It can be seen here atop the weight stack:

I still think atlantis has the best system. 15lbs weight plates on the stack to keep it nice and short, but with 5lbs add-ons that are locked on top of shafts and come down with a quarter turn. Can't lose them. Takes as much time as selecting another plate. 5lbs increments.

When I was looking at Prime for their leg extension and functional trainer (I did get pricing...wow) they have a really nice system too if you haven't seen it. Have not used it but might be my favorite one. Tried to find a picture...I've seen it somewhere but it's in their functional trainer video I think.
I think Rogue with the Leg Press, Monster GHD, and now this is attempting to get into the commercial or maybe sports facility market. Bottom line is that while they have solid setups for free weights and equipment they likely lose out some on bundled pricing to competitors who offer a leg press or lat pulldown. Makes sense to have the bases covered and I guess they are designing the essentials.
My own opinion is that this is a premium priced unit that doesn't bring innovation to the table. Nothing wows me about it. Typically Rogue hit the price/quality nexus I find myself looking into...this unit does not but then again neither does their Leg Press so I'm guessing these are aimed at the same market/customer and they discount them in package deals.▪█─────█▪ Rogue Barbell Crew #27 ▪█─────█▪
