why are people talking about the Canadian system? We don't want an inhumane , corporate run system where you have to pay for your own drug plans like OHIP.
We want a truly FREE system where all drugs are covered. If I get beetus from eating too much sugar then I shouldn't be expected to have to pay anything for my rightful insulin
That sounds like something the Republicans would want.

I can understand your opinion, and I respect it, I just disagree. Universal healthcare works virtually in every country in the world yet we're too stubborn to even THINK about trying it. Let's be real, Americans don't care about their fellow man. It's a dog eat dog world and America is on the top of that food chain. I mean hell, most employers treat new mothers like complete sh*t (not many companies offer paid maternity leave)(but that's another issue) and say "well that's your fault for having a child, even though you planned on it LOL!" Some employers want to dock overtime pay and bring down union worker wages. Seriously? Lol, just lol.
It's insane how selfish we are in this country it really is. I do respect your opinion, though.
edit: I know I ranted off topic, but it just goes to show our selfishness as a nation. Oh well.

Negged. It drives me crazy when people like you pretend like everyone who disagrees with you is evil. It's not that we "don't care about our fellow man," obviously. That's just fuking stupid and annoying to even suggest. We just disagree about how healthcare is best provided, obviously.
At least conservatives give you the benefit of doubt that you are just dumb.we have not spent the last 65 million or so years finely honing our physiology to watch Oprah. Like it or not, we are the product of a very long process of adaptation to a harsh physical existence, and the past couple centuries of comparative ease and plenty are not enough time to change our genome. We humans are at our best when our existence mirrors, or at least simulates, the one we are still genetically adapted to live. And that is the purpose of exercise. - Mark Rippetoe

The evidence behind universal health care in terms of overall health benefits is staggering. What is the argument against it, then? Ideology. That does suggest that people care less about fellow human than they do maintaining their ideological standards. Adopting a universal structure with greater efforts towards preventative care would do wonders.
All of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone.

I agree our health care system sucks ass. Its corrupt to the bone exactly because government has "legalized" all kinds of criminal behavior. However its all those loaded phrases like "the worst in the developed world" that make this conversation so trivial and meaningless. You can't passably believe things are that simple. It's not the worst in the developed world if you actually look at survival rates of cancers and other diseases.............**** it, i am out of here.

This is just silly to me. I think government control is exactly why more people die from prescription drugs than illicit drugs now days. If it was really about helping people in the best way possible governments would pay more attention to educating people on how to live healthy lifestyles, instead of forcing us to sit down all day and cancelling PE. The FDA would actually look out for peoples health. They would actually address all the chemicals being dumped into our environment instead of stopping cannabis from being researched for its medicinal value.
I just don't even know how you can suggest this. How much do YOU care about your fellow man if you support pointing the gun of government at people who disagree with you? Honestly WTF.we have not spent the last 65 million or so years finely honing our physiology to watch Oprah. So here is where you are mistaking "no love" with conservatives brand of "tough love".....
Give a man a fish he eats for ONE meal, teach a man to fish and he can feed himself for life....
The Democrats/ Liberals have loved their fellow man so little, they had no faith in their ability to even perform FUNDAMENTAL life skills, and now they have an overwhelming population of adults that neither want to or are equipped to take care of themselves.....
Its like the teenager who's parents never said "no" to, then one day in frustration told that grown child to "get out".....and that child is lost.
I have not one issue with socialized health care, as long as everyone pays their own way, and should you choose to, you can "pay" for the best.
Yes it is interesting to note when there is a serious issue with a European family of means, they come to the most talented and the best right here in the good ole US of A.......speaks volumes about "quality".
But all of this "white noise" is nothing new....

dude, shut the phuck up.
it is NOT an embarrassment to us. some foreigner does not decide what embarrasses America. we are proud of things like Gun Rights and moral values, we do not believe in socialized insurance. and that's not an embarrassment to us.
stop trying to make us feel bad for nothing. you really are coming off like a HUGE pussy who needs to just get a life and shut the phuck up.

Well I definitely don't consider a healthcare system where tens of thousands each year are left to die with countless more left with crippling bills, just for essential medical care, and general health outcomes are pretty terrible, as a good one, especially when the country concerned is the richest on the planet. People who know a lot more about this stuff than me or you seem to agree with that general idea too (crazy!)

I would like there to be a state funded insurance program where every US citizen gets premium health insurance at the expense of the tax payer and can choose whichever doctor they want and choose whichever hospital they want. This will allow everyone, including poor people, access to health care. Also this system will keep the hospitals and doctors competitive and therefore will ensure a high quality of health care.
I would absolutely despise having a health care system where every nurse and doctor is on a government payroll and where every hospital is government owned. This would inevitably deteriorate the quality of healthcare. The muscles i value most are the ones directly surrounding the spine, the hips, the scapula, the femur and the tibia... in that order.
Basically the whole body minus chest and biceps... pretty much the opposite of what your local gym looks like on a typical Monday.
