Srs. The more I learn, the more I realize it's all not so black and white and quite contradictory at times even.

But that just makes it more interesting to read about all the new studies / meta-analysis imo .

I don't know what he's talking about, my fat is clearly stubborn

Enjoyed the bit he brought up about building muscle and losing fat at the same time. I have been reading in recent places too about studies in elite athletes showing that they were able to do both. Very interdasting!

Even told her about paleo / atkins if she didn't want to be bothered by weighing and counting. She says, "yea, uh huh," to the things I tell her, but I can tell she's being polite while actively dismissing me and investing in some advice that is usually a tid bit from Dr. Oz or some completely random and vague article. Today, she tells me that she is going on a fruit and veggie cleanse (again). I tell her it isn't necessary (again). She nods her head and says that is fine, and makes a face like I'm starting to irritate her with my rebuttals.

Upon conversing later on, she discovers that I am spending time writing something up for a woman who asked me for advice on dieting. She makes a face, storms off, presumably jealous. Da fuk? It trips me out how people act like they want your help and guidance, but if you don't say what they want to hear, they dismiss you...and when they fail, they come back again. And repeat. She wants me to train her but I haven't...because how can you train someone who doesn't want to listen to anything you say? Whenever I tell her about lifting weights, she says she just wants to be toned like me. When I tell her that I had to lift heavy weights to look like this, she says, "yea, but I don't think we have the same goals and you're going for a look that I do not want for myself." /facepalm

So basically, she wants me to train her in a way that requires minimal effort and lets her be in control but still gets her the same results as if she worked hard and did something completely different than she has been. I told her when she gets tired of things not working out with her way, come holla at me.

    If she wasn't my mom....

    Lmao @ stubborn fats.

Tis true though RE black and white, when we were fatties almost anything would work. So much leeway when you have 50-100 pounds to lose. You can run any diet dang near and get massive success. Crown yourself a genius.

As for making gainz and losing fat Id be satisfied just to not lose. most of its at the limit of % error rate of the measurement technology anyway.

    qft

Funny how we're inclined to think the opposite while overweight / obese though...as if fit people have it easier when it comes to losing fat haha. Realizing how easy it was to lose those initial lbs made me truly realize how ridiculous it was to get that big in the first place.

As for making gainz and losing fat Id be satisfied just to not lose. most of its at the limit of % error rate of the measurement technology anyway.

    No kidding!

Makes sense about measurements. Have you ever thought about getting a DEXA or bod pod out of curiosity one day? Secretly hoping a coupon pops up on groupon eventually.

lol @ your sig..."sprinkles are for winners." I usually don't find too many commercials funny but that cracks me up.

These things can be bastards to get over. Sucks to be stuck in the system feels though I bet.

To redeem myself for the cake comment bro I did eat the cake for 2 days this week

@mlj, lol, I had the dexa. Machine broke due to my obese body

Lol, it did cut off at me toes so I lost a pound of LBM easy. I was 22.5% pure obesity. That was 10 pounds ago.

I don't think so. A gun is fine to have at camp, but on a hike, it would be too heavy for me, and it wouldn't be in a place where I can get to it quickly and easily. I got the pepper spray during my lunch break. I was rolling my eyes at the ones that were bedazzled or hot pink. :/

Lol. I can, my girl, I love her to bits but she's stubborn as a mule when it comes to this stuff. Moans at me all the time about lack of progress, I make suggestions how she could improve, she quickly dismisses them. Then she continues moaning until I'm all out of suggestions and the only response I have left is a sigh. To which she says something sarcastic like 'thanks for the encouragement'.

Not much of anything really. Haven't had much time between work, college and gym. I go to Budapest for a long weekend next week though which I'm very excited about. Not playing football this year but I do have a one off game coming up. Over here we have Alumni games at universities so me and a bunch of guys I went to university with will be taking on the current team, that should be fun.

I've read DEXA measures everything, including the fat in your brain. You can justify a slightly lower estimate by accounting for FBM (Fatty Brain Mass)

It was cool to see the breakdown by limb and area.

I don't know what he's talking about, my fat is clearly stubborn

Enjoyed the bit he brought up about building muscle and losing fat at the same time. I have been reading in recent places too about studies in elite athletes showing that they were able to do both. Very interdasting!
That's what I've found out personally. I was under the delusion that I was 16-17% bodyfat at 196 lol. I'm 164 now and pretty sure I'm just now in that range.

Thanks dudes. Gonna keep powering down until I lose the love handles and lower belly fat; then eat at maintenance for a month or so, followed by a slow bulk. The problem with the end stages of a cut, when you don't have much muscle mass, are all the anorexic comments from fat people in the office.

Yes. When the face and neck go lean, it can be stark appearance change. Then the fatties come for you

Attacked with kisses maybe. These two were so cute, especially the golden retriever. It was so happy running up and down the trail and rolling in the snow.

Thanks! I'm think I'm good for now. I did the research on the tasers and stun guns last week. They're not considered firearms in California, so they're legal to buy, carry, and use anywhere except the airport or public buildings.
