I've been out of the loop the past two days with a female friend visiting from out of town, but I did get her to try some sours and come with me to Casey Brewing and Blending yesterday, so WIN.
I tried blend 1, blend 2, and the cherry sour and I think yesterday's blend 2 release is the best of the bunch.Eat Less, Exercise More, Repeat Forever

Went out to eat at a small organic, everything made from locally grown/raised farms, etc type place last night. Very good food and the beer selection was quite nice. On Tap: FFF Yum Yum, Mikkeller Black Hole, FFF + Sierra Nevada Chico King, Matilda, FFF Backmasking and one other beer that I can't remember what it was. Anyhow, tried the Matilda and Chico King....wasn't impressed...glad I only tried a sample. Had a Yum Yum...it was okay. What stole the show was the Black Hole though. That stuff was fantastic and coming from a guy who isn't a fan of stouts, that is saying something. Their bottle selection was quite good also. They had Trappistes Rochefort 10 which I talked my friend into trying. This place will also be having a Trappiste night where they serve Trappiste Ale and Belgian Cuisine. Thinking about hitting that up...
Long story short, If you are ever in a bar with Black Hole, get a glass of that sht! Stuff is excellent.Twatter: marked4u2c

Hey man remember that Nelson I sent you that tasted bad?
Well I just sent one to Lenny last week from the same batch, and he said it was as juicy as ever.
I really think there is something going on with wherever it is you ship beer/receive beer from. Because the same batch of Nelson has tasted great from 2 diff people, and your homebrew IPA going south let alone all the Bible Belts you have said to arrive that taste horrible.
I dunno what it is, but I think something is off with the beer shipments for you. Especially now hearing from 2 diff people (Lenny and Sam from Gonzo) said it was good. And J.R. said his Duet was good as well, which was sent to me at the same time the Nelsons were.**Voted Misc's Quickest Whip**

Went to Funky Buddha Saturday with some friends and had a great time. It's a big place. Huge bar with lots of tables for people sit with TVs everywhere. We didn't do the tour cause we got there a little late. Didn't see the area where they have Bocce ball and all the other game stuff either. I tried 5 of their beers I think: Cabana Boy Wheat Ale, Chocolate-Covered Cherry Porter, Fire In The Hole Raspberry Habanero Red Ale, Small Axe Big IPA, Under The Kilt Scottish Ale. The Wheat Ale was decent, the Scottish Ale was a huge disappointment. The other three beers were great. The Porter tasted like Dark Chocolate and Cherry, the Double IPA was not too hop overpowering and had big citrus flavors. Never had anything like the Red Ale, wasn't overly spicy but just enough. The only thing they had bottles of for sale was their Barleywine which I haven't really tried many of, and the stuff that was available for Growlers was more of their year round stuff. I'd go all the time if it were closer, deciding whether or not to go next week to grab a couple bottles of the Blueberry Cobbler.

Spak, just saw you on ratebeer... Or rather, I saw a stupid long droning post and scrolled up to see if it was you. Was right.
22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours moderately hazy golden orange color with a 2 finger dense and rocky white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tart lemon peel, lime, green apple, grapefruit, orange zest, pineapple, mango, white vinegar, brine, herbal, hay, straw, grass, musty funk, white bread, and yeast earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky yeast, citrus/tropical hops, and brine/pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart lemon peel, lime, green apple, grapefruit, orange zest, pineapple, mango, white vinegar, brine, herbal, hay, straw, grass, musty funk, white bread, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of fruity acidic tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon peel, lime, green apple, grapefruit, orange zest, pineapple, mango, white vinegar, brine, herbal, hay, straw, grass, musty funk, white bread, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity and robustness of fruity/funky yeast, citrus/tropical hops, and brine/pale malt sweetness; with an awesome malt/acidity balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with very smooth, crisp, and moderately briny/acidic mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with no warming present after the finish as expected of 4.3%. Overall this is an absolutely incredible hoppy gose style! All around fantastic complexity and robustness of fruity/funky yeast, citrus/tropical hops, and brine/pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink with the balanced acidity. An extremely delicious offering.
