Why would reading fiction be a "waste of time?"
What's wrong with being a stay at home mom? You are lucky you had the opportunity to be at home until you went to school. I'd say your mom "sacrificed" for you and your bro--she didn't "throw it away."

Well, my mom does do a lot for the family, but I think she actually does too much. She doesn't take proper care of herself. She could have done more with her life if she would sometimes put herself first. To me, a loser is someone who puts oneself last.
I define success in quantitative terms, while my mom doesn't seem to. I actually was thinking about this a few days ago and made a whole list of different types of quantitative terms that I define success by, all of them having to do with career and fitness, the two main things on my mind at this point in my life.

So don't be calling your mom a loser for putting you and your brother before herself. Yes she very well could have done more for herself and treated her children poorly. Instead she did what she wanted to do in order to raise the family and yet here you are calling her a loser. Do you call her a loser to her face? If so, i hope she smacks the heck out of you. I used to treat my mom very bad while i was growing up. Now that i realized what i did i wish i could take it all back. I sure as heck don't call her a loser because she worked her ass off in order for me and my brother to live our dreams and be happy in life. After my two combat deployments i am just happy im alive. Trust me i will give my life for my soldiers in a heartbeat if it came too it.

So what? That doesn't make it a waste of time.
^^^Was thinking the same thing.
No offense, but you seem pretty young. Raising kids is an important job...one that has a more lasting impact than achievements a person garners from work.

I genuinely don't understand why people are mad when I'm talking about what rustles my jimmies in a thread called "What rustles your jimmies". It just doesn't make any sense!

Thank you, Lisa! I know it isn't for everyone, and even children aren't (and shouldn't be) for everyone. But I've got one heck of a good man who works just as hard out of the home as I do in the home, and I feel honored that I have the opportunity to be here with our babies.
What rustles my jimmies is when people can seem so callous about what is a sacrifice for so many. Ungratefulness rustles my jimmies. Hating on someone who didn't have to do what they thought was best...who could have just thrown their children away and onto others. As a momma and a daughter, it just rustles my big ol' maternity jimmies."Do not give away to others what you have not first given away at home." unknown

Because you referred to your mother--the woman who birthed you, most likely fed you, rocked you to sleep, changed your diapers, bathed you, cleaned up your vomit in the middle of the night, helped you with your homework, dried your tears, listened to you, cooked you meals, cleaned up after you, spent hours in the car driving you around, bought you clothes, played with you...the list could go on... as a "loser."
Yeah I can't imagine why anyone would be offended.
That little bun in the oven is lucky to have you for his/her future mommy, mrsH

I'm not even gonna acknowledge any of these replies from this point forward; at least, not publicly. Maybe via PM if I really feel the urge to.
It's just not worth my time.

Just had to step in & say more like everyone else should not be acknowledging the things you post, because it's not worth THEIR time.
Definitely agree with Lisa - not sure if you're legit with the things you say or you're just a massive forum troll.. the majority of your posts (not just ITT) have rustled my jimmies, but I've just chosen to ignore them. You have issues you need to deal with - others have tried to give you a reality check & help you see the light, but you're too stubborn/close-minded/whatever to accept their criticism.
Ideally, everyone should also just let you be, since you seem to revel in your misery & your misery shouldn't be dampening anyone else's day.

My job right now is an art educator.
There's this one woman at my work that's starting to rustle my jim jams.
Our main goal is for the students to make personalized art and discover their own talent their own ways. Their own way of painting, their own way of sculpting, etc. If a theme is watercolour, then the use watercolour to paint their own piece of art with any idea that comes to mind.
This woman at my work doesn't allow kids to use their ideas. She tells them straight up what to do. If she wants you to make a bear, EVERYONE has to make the EXACT SAME BEAR with the EXACT SAME COLOURS and the EXACT SAME WAY.
When I'm teaching, I use the hours given to really set up a lesson so every kid finds their own way, at their own pace. She actually comments on how stupid it is and how I'm wasting my time over these kids. THAT'S OUR JOB! I'm not just an educator to get paid.. I want kids to enjoy learning and be proud of their accomplishments.
Not only that.. but we get compensated if we go out and purchase work supplies that we need (so if I spent $10 on supplies and bring in the receipt, I get $10 extra on my next paycheque). I went out and purchased supplies, and made demos (we get paid for the hours if we make demos). The day I purchased the stuff, I dropped it off at work right before we closed, and planned to come in the next day. I did, but she got there first and MOVED ALL MY CHIT.. and threw out my receipts. So I spent 3 hrs making my demos (it was a LOT of stuff). I put it in a box to dry, and off to the side (where we usually keep demos to dry). I wasn't in work for a week, and I come back and it turns out she ATE some of the stuff in the box for the demo (it was an Easter class) and THREW ALL MY DEMOS AWAY!
I didn't say anything, and I just brushed it off. But I swear.. woman is rustling my jim jams.I don't work out to look good, I work out to live longer than my doctors expect me to.

You have the right idea. The "epiphany" I hinted to in the other thread has to do with this. It requires some discipline but if you can make it work, IT'S SUPER EFFECTIVE!
If someone says or does something that bothers you, just don't acknowledge them. Hell, even if you say or do something that bothers someone and they respond in a way that you find offensive, don't even give them a second of your time! They'll be so mad that you left them hanging! Many a conflict will be prevented!
I will continue to use this thread for its intended purpose but simply ignore anyone who is irked by my rantings. Everyone else should do the same!
This could be a revolution in conflict resolution.

Just stating the same feelings that many of the f em misc expressed when they gave me rep for the comment. I have a long history of respecting others in this thread. So, if you want to start a confrontation just to drum up drama to justify a ban, go bark up another tree. You're not getting it from me.

When people tell you the same thing AFTER you've responded or made your understanding known
Bitch, don't judge me by your own fu(ktardness. I can clearly hear and understand at the first time of asking
