What's up guys
Here's what I did in the last three months:
- Zero carbs (occasional carb refills on Sundays... Usually Chipotle burritos - I love it)
- working out pretty much everyday, except if really tired
- for 1-2 months I walked (low intensity) on the treadmill
- quit the booze (by far the hardest part)
Right now I'm eating a little bit of carbs and trying to maintain the bodyfat level. Then I'll take out the carbs again and hopefully shock the body and make it burn more, specially under the belly button.
I've started lifting "seriously" this year. I know I still have a lot to develop, especially in the chest, and I'm doing my best to address it.
Thanks

as someone who's doing keto for a couple weeks now (just for ****s before summer starts/i start bulking since it's hard to lift and eat srs during finals), it depends. i never got the "keto flu" most people talk about. but i think thats because i normally dont eat a crazy amount of carbs to begin with. if you're a meat eater (no homo) it should be pretty easy/fun, especially as a diet. though it can be annoying cuz sometimes you DO want to eat carbs from time to time

Amazing work bro. Literally such a great job!
Mind posting if you counted calories? I am in my first week of keto, and I've lost the water weight. I'm doing targeted ketogenic diet, so having approx 40g carbs before workout only - weight training with a tiny bit of cardio after.
I'm not sure if I should measure calories...
You know what, I completely agree, but I think the thing with keto is that it turns you into a fat burning machine, because well, the body MUST turn to fat, especially to fuel the brain via ketones, where as regular ingestion of carbohydrates will inhibit fat mobilisation. And carbs can get addictive, some studies have shows a bidirectional link between a hormone which means when you eat carbs, you crave more. But I definitely agree with your statement - zero carbs is not a must for fat loss
I managed to lose 55lbs without cutting carbs out, but I was at a very high BF percentage. Now I am leaner (though still a fatty), I am finding it difficult to cut. I am aiming for fat loss of 1-1.5lbs/week hopefully.Last edited by WL93; 05-06-2013 at 01:51 AM.

here is my poverty keto shopping list:
Kale
Ranch
Chicken
Bacon
Eggs
Olive oil
edit:
woops didn't see the vegetarian part.. would prob throw some nuts in there instead, but I think keto could be really difficult on a vegetarian diet. not sure how you'd get all the protein without the carbs, maybe a lot of no-carb whey?

Yeah, I agree, if you're vegetarian:
diet whey/protein, perhaps a mix of casein and whey, etc with minimal carbs?
quorn? although i dont know if they have carbs
Eggs
Nuts do have protein but i think it could only form a small part of your total protein intake throughout the day. probabaly contribute more towards fat intake.
I think lentils and beans have a decent amount of protein for a vegetarian option, but do check
cant think of anything else.
But the best sources of protein are meat, and quinoa, an fish in terms of quality. But once again im not sure of carbohydrate content in quinoa
