Paid for a single mom and her son's dinner at work tonight

I'm gunna type this as soberly as possible...

I work part time at a restaurant a few nights a week. Do delivery for some extra cash for nights out and what not.
Was the end of the night and delivered to a woman (4/10 at best) in a poverty looking 4-plex
Her debit card declined for insufficient funds, didnt have any cash or visa, so I had to take her order back to the restaurant.

She called the restaurant, saying she checked her online banking, that the funds were there and maybe it was my machine.... so boss makes me go back with a different one. Im like "notsureifsrs" but lulz whatever.
Her son was at the door with her this time. Looked about 7 years old. He had the bag in his hands, and sure enough it declined again.
She insisted she just had an electronic bank transfer and the funds were there. I told her there's likely a temporary hold on it if the transfer just happened today.
The "electronic bank transfer" were likely child support payments or some shizz.
Kid looked sad as hell when she told him to give it back to me.

So I left again, was done my shift and was about to go home....then I thought of the disappointment on that kids face.
I called her up and said "Hey, it's the _______ driver calling. I don't normally do this, but I will pay your for food tonight, if you promise to pay me back over the weekend?"

I went back, the kid was happy, she was very grateful and said she will leave an envelope with my name on it and the money inside tomorrow at the restaurant.


Maybe I dun goofed and am out $30 bucks, maybe good karma will come right back.....either way, its a small price to pay to test the integrity of a stranger in today's day and age.

lol... thats why Im not worried. Although its a 4-plex (like a mini apartment but only 4 units) and Im not sure which is hers....but I do have her phone number.

Besides, I was supposed to go to a bar after work, but ended up working later because it was busy...so I would have easily pissed that $30 away anyways.

She didnt look like the typical drug addict. Was 11pm and she wasnt drunk.
The only reason I offered the deal was BECAUSE of the kid. Wouldnt say its a trick cause I left two times before calling her back on my own will on my way home.
