Like the title says, why do knee wraps alter squat form but knee sleeves don't? Is it the wraps that alter your form or do you consciously alter your form to maximize using knee wraps?

i havent used knee wraps before, but i do use knee sleeves. Knee sleeves are just really to make the lift more comfotable while knee wraps are also there to help rebound out of the hole. So i guess they just have different purposes.

I was looking for this one study on squat mechanics with and without knee wraps but couldn't find it. But these might still help:

I'm convinced that I'd have to revamp my squat a little bit if I ever decided to do a meet in wraps. I think it depends on the person.

I would guess it would depend on the lifters squatting style, and which wraps they are using. From what I understand, some knee wraps have a lot of "stopping power" which seems to be the main characteristic of wraps that would change someones squat form.

After seeing a hard workout you may want to complain and want others to pity you for the work you have to do. Your mom will pity you. Your girl will pity you. I may pity you, but your competition will not pity you. They will step on you, walk over you and spit on you. Boris Sheiko

The second study was the one I read and one of the places I read about it said how using knee wraps causes the lifter to maintain a more upright torso but what about the wraps causes that is what I don't understand. I was originally thinking compression due to heavily cranking the wraps around the knee but then a tight knee sleeve would cause a similar effect but to a lesser degree.
My next thought was trying to maximize the rebound my having the knrest come forward to stretch the wraps further.

I squat a bit narrower and with my knees/toes a bit more forward with sleeves than I do wraps. With wraps I also widen my stance out a hair and do a more forceful push out of the knees. If I let me knees go forward as much with wraps on, it tends to push them even more forward, which has a bad result.
