first of all the 100 m dash and the 40 yard dash is two completely diff races. one is based on quickness (40) and one is based in pure speed , power and endurance.. training for the 40 therefore will be diff then the 100, and with your 40 time its hard to calculate your 100 b/c people accelerate at diff points of running.. i.e i ran 10.87 FAT in the 100 at a regional meet and placed 2nd, and i clock around 4.41 in the 40. the guy who won ran 10.38 and runs a 40 in high 4.4's ..

Another example of people accelerating at different rates, my best 100m was 10.52 (FAT) and I was also clocked under 4.2 in the 40... All start no finish... Well actually i need to work on my top speed, I can hold it pretty well. high 21s for 200m.
