I think the issue is a little more complicated then that. It was too short. I like to read details.

    It works

I am a 43yo male. 6 months ago I was 203lbs and after 5 months of running 5 miles 5-6 days/week I got down to 169. The only comments I got was how "Skinny" I was and I did not like that, but I hated a pot belly worse.
For the past month I have been using the HIT program.
I started out doing HIT with sprint/jog until I pulled a hamstring and glut. Now I am doing it on a spin bike and love it. I have gained five pounds of muscle back and my mid section is getting even smaller. It used to take me over 2 hours /day to workout, now it takes me about 1hour and 15 mins tops. I started out with 5 mins of HIT and now I am up to 15 mins.
People are now commenting that I must be working out...... the comment I was looking for.

I do start my workout lifting weights(5 days/week)

    HIT on cycle: 30sec at 125rpms res=11
    30sec at 85rmps res=11

My HIT goal is 20 mins then I will start increasing the resistance.

I am going to start the HIIT consept tommarrow. If I like it I may incorperate it in on my lifting days. Does anyone do this and if so what are your comments on the idea?

i love this type of training simply because i strive to beat the program. when i first entered the gym in 2010 my goal was to loose 40 lbs with no time frame partly because i didn't want to fail and mostly because i was starting the atkins diet at the same time. i got on the elliptical and hit manual with no tension and began to see where i was as far as fitness was concerned.i could only complete 10 minutes i was sweating and huffing and puffing.(smoking a pack a day does not help) so i sat down to catch my breath and walked out the gym..i wondered how many people took notice and felt bad but i knew id be back and worked my way to 15 minutes a day. i started a program called Kilimanjaro a basic incline then decline and worked it up level to keep the intensity. with the atkins diet and the elliptical and 4 sets of dips with the assist bar that i also worked off of i lost 40 lbs in 2 months. i looked better than i have in a few years and loved it...the only thing i regret was that the trackers on bodybuilding .com didnt have the elliptical as an option to use but i kept track by making a custom workout and logging it in every night. this works but with the atkins diet it works 10 times faster.that sumer i went off the diet and put it back on in 2 yrs time.now in 2012 im back in the gym and im doing what i know works and even added the treadmill to my workout. the trick is to cut the carbs and keep the heart rate up. even if it's only 25% and you gradually work your self up to 50/60/70% etc you will sweat more because your fat is being used for energy and not carbs. the mp3 player is a must then i just focus, get in a zone, get in and out. each day is a accomplishment and that's how i viewed it. even the days i felt blah,i jus got myself to the gym and made an effort. wish those options were available for the trackers though. they really help you to visually see your progress

I like the idea of HIT but, after years of doing Max-OT combined with now being 37 y/o, it is HARD to keep that kind of intensity for every set while training ultr
