    What kind of shoes are best for leg day?

    What kind of shoes should one use for leg exercises? Or does it make a difference? At the moment I just use running shoes, but would something else be better?

    Bonus question: Usually leg presses really get my quads and glutes pumped up and it really feels like I'm working them, but not today. I was working as hard as I could, but somehow it just didn't feel like the muscles were doing much work. What's going on?

    I used to squat in socks. I'm back to using shoes again, and I prefer it.

    Nice work on the bonus question too. I am assuming your body is adapting to the workload. Time to jack up the weight.

    I used to use running shoes but switched to some high top basketball shoes. I like it much better because the bottoms are totally flat and it is much more supportive.

    Asics wrestling shoes/boots.....

    Sent my squats and deads wayyyy up.....feels so good and solid to lift in them.

    I put my orthotics in there and it feels like I'm just walking around on a properly functioning pair of feet.

    I usually wear pumps with a three inch heel.

    I would just use cross-trainers. Unless you are a competitive lifter, what matters is support and sturdiness. Running shoes are light by design, and lack the lateral support of a cross trainer.

    Regarding the second question-it's just one of those things. I wouldn't worry about day to day variations, only about trends.
