30fps is the standard if you want to play a console game at its highest visual fidelity, which is likely how most of these devs intend their games to be played.

Many have just given you options with lower settings for more fps. I don't think that makes 60fps the standard.

The discussion was never about which mode would give the best fidelity. You're posing a strawman. The discussion was that 60fps would not be possible due to console limitations. 30fps standard meant 30fps would be the ONLY option.

60fps becoming standard is literally one of the best things and #1 advancements this gen has had. Like when I go back and play some 360 or PS3, I'm amazed by how similar they can look compared to most One and PS4 games these days. Like the difference in graphics with those generations is very minimal, meanwhile current gen games tend to look notably better thanks to smooth 60fps performance. Heck having fps boost for old 360 titles makes a lot of them look better than most One/PS4 games.

Your post had nothing to do with the thread, and was also stupid as fuk. Imagine saying 30fps games is what devs want to give us, as if PC and 99% of PS5 games are limited to 30fps. You think Stellar Blade, a fast paced action game was envisioned by devs to be 30fps? Fuking clown.

Scram and I had a long argument a couple years ago about what this gen was about. I believed that 60fps games was a defining aspect of it. Scram said that we're only enjoying 60fps because of the cross gen period and once that's over, devs are gonna drop 60fps modes and 30fps will be the standard for the gen. The point of my thread is at least for now, a solid year after cross gen it still seems like performance modes are a defining part of this gen.

Yeah it blew my mind to go on my PS5 and try out some PS4 games that got patched for 60. Completely changed the experience for me.

And I agree that many games releasing today, with a few exceptions, don't graphically look all that insane on console from last gen but that's because most of the power went towards resolution and fps increases. I'm fine with that once games are fun to play and run smoothly.

Yup. The improvement in graphics has been really mediocre going from PS3-PS5 unless you get all caught up on the technical details and really try to zoom in on everything. Meanwhile the improvement in performance going from One/PS4 to SeX/PS5 has made all the difference that graphics detail has largely failed to make.
