Pretty far from it. There's terminal illnesses, people losing limbs or becoming paralyzed, loads of serious issues that could fall upon people. Losing hair is purely cosmetic, and there's loads of bald or balding dudes who are successful and desirable.

I guess you're right Jay but think of it from this perspective, for many men including myself hair has always been there, and balding is the first issue in life you can't fix, balding is a stark reminder of our own mortality, that we are simple animals that are going to die.
