Would a prosecutor seek death based solely on the word of a victim? I'm not even sure there are many convictions based on those circumstances. I'd be surprised if anybody but the worst of the worst, backed by hard evidence were sentenced to death due to this.

Plenty of people have been convicted of sex crimes through testimony and no physical evidence. I doubt however , any prosecutor or state court would allow capital punishment simply based off of that , even with a conviction. Certainly SCOTUS would overturn.

I meant to say if there are many life convictions, cause going from something that typically means a decade or so in prison to death is a leap I don't see prosecutors making. I think it'll just be reserved for those who leave no doubt they deserve to die.
