I think Dana has either accepted that these cards will have extremely low viewership and is pandering to sponsors or he will soon stop doing this as it's definitely not good for business if 10 or 15% of the fight nights fail miserably because nobody cares about women fighting.

It probably will. But that's not the point. I'm sick of these bullchit cards. UFC events used to be just that, an event. There would be storylines throughout the whole card. Almost every fight mattered. There would be a huge build up for weeks focused on nothing but that card (remember Primetime?), then it would be covered and discussed for weeks afterwards on forums and chit. Every event felt special.

Good times.

Now it's just pump out as much content as possible with a handful of actual stacked cards per year.

I suppose there are pros and cons to both. They had to switch to this model for growth and to get fighters paid, but still, dat old UFC night feeling >>>>>
