Question to all the 30's folks-

What things are you doing to stay healthy/active?

my knees feel rekt from playing too much bball and squatting, im recovering super slow, my achilles tendon has soreness when get up and walk around, i feel like im walking around in a body of a 50 year old when i should be hitting my prime.

im looking into take joint supplements/miltivitamin and i do think my daily diet is somewhat decent. im even hitting the gym a lot less now, but would like to get back to the energy i use to have.

I run about 30 miles and hit the gym 3-4x/week. I think in my late 20s until now (I'm 32), I've focused a little bit more on stretching, proper warming up, and yoga.

I eat a mostly peaceful diet but I'll cheat whenever I want because I burn tons of calories per day. Always have vitamin gummies as well.

Light jogging 3-4 times a week. Stopped working out legs. Lose the squats if anything. No compound movements. Multi, zinc, magnesium, fish oil, and D3. Eating healthy but not too healthy. Kodiak pancakes.

cutting way the fug down on alcohol, making sleep a priority, making gym time more intense and less time-consuming, cleaning up the diet more, fasting and trying to keep bodyfat percentage low.

    luckily no injuries for me.

Not in my 30’s, but im approaching and have bad knees.

Outside of lifting - I ride my mountain bike, golf and ski. Need to wear a brace when i ski but never had any noticable pain when i wear it.

More importantly, i dont eat like im in university anymore. Fast food destroys my guts now, which is a shame because its ao fawking good.

Funny you mention that…it’s like that every morning for me. I started rolling a tennis ball under my foot at work which seems to help a little. Would still like to know what’s going on though.

I don’t do chit other than a lot of yard work when it comes to staying active. I let covid fugg my routine up last year and I never recovered.

Abbreviated training. Stretching shoulders, hamstrings, glutes and hip flexors several times weekly. Trigger point therapy/ myofacial release with massage gun, lacrosse ball and a kong dog toy ball about the size of a softball. I wouldn't still be lifting if it wasn't for these things. I'm 39.

srs advice- lay off anything that will rekt your knees. i did heavy squats and played bball, now my knees hurt to even bend down. even the leg press machine doesn't feel good and i only use 1 plate on it.

Also, getting my body in a routine is probably the best thing that I have done. I am up at 4:30-5 AM daily every single day. Listening to your body, as well. Eat when you’re hungry. Follow your own routine that works best, not something that someone else is doing, especially when it comes to your diet and exercising.

what helped me for a little bit was stretching out my foot and the bottom of my calves. pretty much try to stretch out the entire leg as it effects the achilles tendon in some way shape or form.

mines pretty bad, even when walking i'll have issues with it.

I only feel like chit/lethargic when my gym routine gets interuppted by an injury.

When im eating well, sleeping well and working out/doing cardio I feel great.

Injuries take forever to heal tho when youre 35+

I don’t know…I think most of us in our thirties are supposed to be dead already. Look at other animals. After they start to look visibly older (white hairs, scars, lack of ‘glow,’ etc) they usually are fighting off young males in their prime. We’re only still here due to advances in medical sciences and societal laws. Some with better genes may go a little longer, but I bet 20,000 years ago, 30s was a dead man walking.

Stretch twice a day. Massage gun, foam roll, yoga and massage therapy to stay limber. If knees are fuked, focus on getting the ankles mobile, glute/hamstring stronger and hips more mobile.

Other than that, recovery starts taking a nose dive drastically. Can't hit them 5-6 day a week training sessions anymore.

Fish oil, d3, multi, probiotic w/ prebiotic. At least 7 hr sleep.

Try to stick to an 8hr eating window, break my fast everyday with a green smoothie.

During the week I try to eat as healthy as possible- lots of veggies, meat and healthy fats from nuts and avocados. Avoid peppers, tomatoes, bread/wheat, most dairy except heavy cream and sour cream, processed foods, beans/legumes.

On the weekend (mostly Saturday) I throw it all out the window and refeed- wings, pizza, burgers, fried chicken, tacos, etc. Booze and herb but try to rinsemaxx only once or twice a month.

Still lift the same, just with slightly less volume and very focused on perfect form. Muscle release with a PVC pipe and a lacrosse ball.

I used to constantly have a different nagging injuries in my early 30s- strained hips, ankles, knee, shoulder, elbow all on rotation. Not anymore and I'm 37.

I've been doing the keto diet and intermittent fasting for the past 3 months. Also run and do calisthenics on my days off work. When I get my weight and bodyfat down to an acceptable level, I'll probably transition to the meditereannean diet, as well as maybe do crossfit and focus on building muscle/clean bulking.

Squats but not too heavy. Just need to be functional.

Also it’s crucial you keep your weight down. The heavier you are the more strain on your knees. So do cardio.
